(No tl;dr) I like the updated bio for Jax, but I'd appreciate if Riot could keep one thing later:

His casual, humorous personality.

Granted, the Jax's seemed fairly consistent with that request, but what with the uproar surrounding the new Varus lore, I just want to make sure my favorite part of my favorite champion survives.

Jax has always carried a charismatic air of comedy and calm around him, spanning from the old lore (Jax would fight people with a cardboard tube, fishing line, chicken foot, spatula, or his trusty lamppost) to the new (nonchalantly eating a hardboiled egg while nocking the crap out of some Demacians). I admire that aspect of his personality- being able to keep a smile on his face in the midst of mortal peril, kinda like a more sane Deadpool, or a less unilaterally good All Might from My Hero Academia. I appreciate that Jax can laugh in the face of danger.

Jax's combination of mirth and bravery is unique. Most champions are brave in the serious sense; Garen, for example, fights for honor and country, while Vayne fights for revenge.

Similarly, there are a lot of unexpectedly whimsical champions. Dr. Mundo's short story was hilarious, for example, but we're laughing at him, not with him. The same goes for Kled.

Jax is different. He knows he's brave. He knows he's funny. He knows he's the best. That's why he's awesome.

Yes! I agree!

I really hope they keep that aspect of his character, too. It's so integral to him that it doesn't seem like they'll change it anytime soon, but, heck, they changed Galio from a depressed gargoyle trying to make up for his 'mistake' to a goofy colossus who just wants to smash everything. It's always a fear that they'll make Jax into a more serious character in some weird way to fit the new role he's trying to fill; a mentor-type character (as if we don't have enough of those...).

In his lore it's mentioned in passing he's looking for someone to train or at least ally with in order to attempt to take back Icathia, his homeland, but he's looking for someone who shows promise. And that's why it's taking so long for him to find a student; they all show no promise to him. As such, I think it'd be cool if he did take on a role similar to All MIght - who you mentioned.

He tries to fill the mentor-type character role. But, since it's kindof an overdone trope in League lore, he's the mentor/teacher that doesn't quite get it right. Struggles to find a student to teach, since they're all mediocre and missing the spirit of it all. Maybe when he does find a student, he's a bit under informed on the 'teaching' bit and trips up a few times, or goes at it from the wrong angle at first. But he does his best, and it somehow works out anyways. All the while, he plays it off with a smile. Laughs at his mistakes. Laughs harder at the mistakes of others.

Crossing my fingers!
