Like what the title, this is a thread discussing about shippings/couples in League and why some can be canon and some can't be based on circumstances like how it can involve the lore of specific characters and the personal opinions of people based on that shipping. I know shipping is a very sensitive topic in the LoL fandom, but let's try to keep this discussion as tame and not heated as possible.

I find shipping to be a very.... intriguing topic in League and Riot really loves to make ship teases as well so might as well create a thread devoted to that very topic.

Zac X Riven is dumb and stupid regardless, but geography, nationality and ideology work against this ship in a major way too. It's also stupid and dumb.

JarvanIV X Quinn is a silly ship. Not as bad as Zac X Riven , but people are clearly misinterpreting Jarvan's lore as he's clearly meant for Shyvana . X Shyvana is the correct ship.

There's the stale joke of Taric + Ezreal.

This is nothing more than a joke as they probably don't know eachother by looking at their friends/rivals list. Additionally, quotes from Ezreal, Lux, and Lyte indicate that there is a secret romance between Lux and Ezreal, thus further damming the Taric + Ezreal thing. So, yeah, it's just a bad joke.

Viewing another ship is Lulu + Veigar. While Lulu has been shipped an awful lot (everyone from Varus to Annie (who is 8 to Lulu's 4000) has been paired with League's resident purple maniac) Veigar is the most viable candidate considering she's friends with Gnar and Veigar, Gnar having not hit puberty despite being ancient most likely has no attraction to Lulu unlike Veigar.

However, we have no real info on Veigar and Lulu's relationship so we can't be positive it's how we dream it to be or just a mutual alliance between two insane, banished yordle mages.

There's nothing denying it, though.

Next is Ashe + Tryndamere.

Now I know some people are gonna hate me for even mentioning that one, but it is canon. Ashe and Tryndamere were married to strengthen the alliegance between their people.

Orianna + Blitzcrank seems to be a popular one. But I'm not sure what to glean from it. Orianna seems to have trouble having emotions and that may be a roadblock for the pairing, but otherwise, Riot seems to actually like the idea of the two.

Tristana + Teemo/Rumble

It's a bit of debate wether Tristana is a good match for Teemo or for Rumble, considering they're both friends of the yordle gunner and both obviously like her (at least it seems like Teemo likes Tristana, I'm not completely sure if he's even a yordle).

Taking a look into the lore reveals that Rumble clearly ~~likes~~ loves Tristana more considering that he named his mech after her, has given away hints in JoJ interviews (I know that's not canon anymore, but Rumble's character hasn't changed much), and more. As for Tristana, in her old lore, it seems as if she friendzoned Teemo, indicating that the writers may have had slightly different plans for her. Also, while her unique interactions to Teemo are rather typical, to Rumble, she's almost flirting.

And the absolute best ship:

Draven + Draven

There is no better and more canon ship than this.

I ship Taliyah having a big fat awkward crush on Ekko even though the likelihood of them ever actually having met is pretty slim. I however will cling to that awkward Taliyah VO line like my life depends on it

I think a lot of shipping is just for fun though so I don't mind some stupid pairings people make as long as they don't ever actually make it into lore. Plus people are gonna ship whatever they want no matter what anyway, like people have already found ways to rationalise away the new Lux Vo so their Lux x Ezreal shipping still works.

what are the actual ships of league? just Tryndamere x Ashe ? i heard they dont even like each other. Romance in runeterra must suck.
