Or it could be that after spending so much time imprisoned with the worst aspects of society, his extreme intellect was warped to the point where he can no longer tell the difference between his paranoid, caged-in thoughts, and his actual personality. After years of carefully guarding yourself against the poison of other people, you become you're own toxin. I think he is simply insane, yet sane at the same time. I feel like if he ever did conquer the world he would find himself with no purpose. He is lashing out because of the schism he feels in his mind. He really wants to destroy the part of him that changed in prison, but he won't because he spent all those years trying to carefully preserve himself in whichever way he could.

I'd say its more of his desire to reverse the situation. To him, it was the world that broke him, a world that he was powerless to react to, a world that he had no control over. He just wants to return the favor.

I believe someone else had the idea that he wants to end violence and stuff similar to what happened to him.
