Gangplank Disable Clarification

I've heard alot about how GP was disabled due to a bug and I can't seem to find out why people think this. It's been clearly stated by the Rioters and the lore and the client itself that he was disabled because he is dead, not because of a bug. I'm aware of the Draven bug but this isn't really gamebreaking or bad enough to warrant a disable. Also he was disabled as soon as act 3 came out. SPOILER ALERT

If you want a summary because you don't feel like reading it, here's what happens. After being captured by Gangplank, Graves and Twisted fate are to be made examples of and after realizing that Graves messed up they join together again but the cannon they're tied to gets pushed into the sea and they both end up in the water and escape, It's then revealed that MF blew up Gangplank's ship for revenge and that Gangplank is presumed dead though she does say that they need to bring back his corpse hinting that he probably survived. Besides his ship is gone, they'd have to disable him because he can't ult anymore. That's about as close to a gameplay reason there is.

The other reason is that this is the bilgewater lore event, not some random patch where nothing is happening (every other patch) the lore is actually getting serious and involved with the game. For those of you that don't read the lore, each player is a summoner and they summon champions to fight for them over various disputes, however the champions have lives outside of the league of legends and they're all alive (well except GP presumably) and if one of them were to die they could not be summoned anymore and since Gangplank is dead/missing, he cannot be summoned thus cannot be played in the game (also why the GP announcer is gone).

Want more evidence? Let's look at some Red posts: There have been MANY Riot posts on this and all of them say GP is disabled due to the lore event and not a bug! They even made him a memorial at Riot HQ and all of them say the same general thing, GP wasn't disabled due to a bug it was because MF blew him up. This one from Meddler in particular summarized everything:

GP's not disabled because of a bug, he's disabled because Miss Fortune blew him and his ship up.

We've disabled champions plenty of times in the past for bugs and I'm sure, alas, will have to do so again in the future. If we're disabling due to bugs, we'll let you know.

What time in the past has Riot disabled a champion due to a bug and said it wasn't a bug? Never. Why would Riot go through so much trouble and write a crap ton of lore to hide a bug? They wouldn't and I bet you wouldn't either. Take off your tin foil hats, there's no conspiracy here.
