While somebody asked about Bard being a god, Jaredan had this to say:

"Just for clarity, Bard isn't a god. He's not omnipotent, though he might look that way to someone he appears in front of. He just has a very particular task to remove things from Runeterra that could wipe out everything there and beyond. Though the things he deals with might have limitless power, he himself does not attempt to wield them. He knows how dangerous that is. That's why when he takes the egg from the Ionians/Noxians in Mountain, it's like he's snatching a handgun out of the hand of a baby.

An egg....A bleedin' EGG! But wait, what could the egg have held that could be so dangerously powerful? What if that egg from Ionia was...maybe...a dragon egg? One filled with the fury of storms and lightning?

Also, the question:

How is Sivir related to Azir if all of his family was turned to sand?

See I made a thread about that months ago and people shrugged it off since everyone thinks Bard's an arse. I KNEW ALL ALONG! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

We shall see if Riot follows up with that or says anything to support that. If so...then it brings up questions of why he saves only some people and not others or gets some artifacts and not others. Not being omnipotent, how does he know things are happening then or just happens to be in the right place? I hope these are addressed.

I'd assume these are things he can sense in the grand scheme of things. Being from the place where magic originates from I would assume, on a base level that when shit hits the fan alarm bells ring for Bard in sort of a natural way, kinda like a sixth sense. Notice in Bard: Mountain he didn't react until the egg had been used, indicating that it was the magic used that tipped Bard off to what was going on.

On what he goes and gets and what he doesn't; I'd imagine it's case by case. Chances are he's not directly responsible for things like that magical egg or the Sun Disc existing, but he can sense what's going on with them due to how they interact with the friction and stuff. His goal is to keep Runeterra safe, so it would really only be the stuff that actually was cause for alarm that needed to be dealt with. That's why he can be so quick to follow up on one artifact of immense power falling in to the wrong hands but allows time-manipulating techmaturgy made by a child. The power there isn't sufficient enough to be cause for alarm and certain strings start getting pulled to taut then Bard will be there to clean things up.

There's also the issue of whether stuff might be needed in the future for whatever reason. Bard seemed to relatively ok with Shurimans having the ability to transcend physical limitations as humans and become near god like in their abilities, and didn't take away the Sun Disc even after it devastated Shurima's capital. Bard has a greater understanding of things so it's possible he might know how certain things need to be treated, for instance the Sun Disc can be left alone because of the power it's tied to and the limitations of its usage (It's not something the Shurimans directly controlled as far as I can tell, they asked for blessings and received them) where as the egg can be actively used as a weapon without much effort, and can't just be left alone.

Blargh, that ended up being longer than intended. Suffice to say different things in the universe need more/less/different kinds of attention than others, and Bard, being from a higher plane of existence, has better understanding of that.

Well we need more details first I think. As he stands now, he's a boring character without traits we can connect with. His powers are ill defined and his motives too mysterious. A mysterious unspeaking entity that appears to lack empathy is hard to make a good story about. I hope he's given more character soon.

No, as far as I remember they never said he was omnipotent. If I'm remembering rightly there was a comment about Bard being banish-able and even "killable" by power of equal or greater strength than himself.

I do remember that his ability to traverse worlds is aided by his Harmonic Key, which also lets him access all that celestial power via splitting reality and reacting with the magical friction.

So. A celestial being who can only be vanquished by powers equal or greater than himself who can traverse time and space and split reality itself is not as overpowered as a corrupt and flimsy organization of member citystates who was already breaking apart due to inner corruption and lived only because no one water the world to destroy itself through Rune wars?
