The Shadow Isles: before the fall.

There are a few hints at the nature of the Shadow Isles pre-undeath. Maokai was a forest spirit and the land teemed with both animals and spirits. There was a sacred forest. Hecarim is a centaur, which could imply he was a nature-creature before undeath. A spider-themed god remain there: maybe there were other animal gods as well. There was a kingdom and a Ruined King.

I interpret this to suggest roots from one part nature-themed and one part Shakesperian/Arthurian legend, the latter parts considering the champions who reside there now.

Any thoughts?

Well there was a king, Though its just like other stories of fallen kings. They make critical choices and eventually realize that it actually destroys his whole kingdom. In this case, thing king wanted(for some unknown reason) to try to accomplish something with necromancy. He had his mages use the islands magic. This is what cause the destruction. They couldn't control the magic they sought, thus it killed everything on the island. Well, like I said, its like other stories of fallen kingdoms. Ever played Dark Souls btw?. Anyways, It was said that there were other creatures too. Vilemaw is and undead spider god. Maybe there are more animal gods. But this story have my most focused attention. I have always liked the Shadow Isles Mystery. Seeing that the Shadow Isles bunch have had their lore shortened on the client, it tells me that Riot's gonna shed some light finally! Did you see the Harrowing Login for this year? That's part of the Shadow Isles. I'm stoked. Also It seems that the Ruined King is also an undead, and he is still calling shots.

I am not sure about the energy drawned from the isle' s core; that was part of the old lore, where the rune magic destroyed the world with some zones more affected and others not and the SI were an example for that. Probably with the retcon this aspect will be mantained, probably not for rune magic or rune wars but for other purposes.

So, was item 3153 this Ruined King's weapon?

What do I envision is an Avalon like kingdom with its relics and ancestral spirits.

I don't think though that Hecarim was a sort of Satir/Centaur even in life but probably a restless Chivalry man.

I have problems though in having a clear vision of Mordekaiser (who is my favorite of the SI champions)... the question come froms these 2 facts:

  1. He is either the first undead or a sort of evil spirit since the begin (old/new Lore).

  2. His motives are different from "The Will of the Islands" (deducted by the TTL Altars interactions).

The second point is really something because even entities as the Spider God seem to bow to this "Will", be it because of him being enslaved aswell at the undeath release or any other reason.

I'd really like for Evelynn to be the Queen(or Princess) of the Isles. Maybe the magic corrupted her a bit, too, and re-made her into the sadistic creature we see today.

What I find funny about people who hope for the Ruined King to be a new champ is that RK has to be, well.../different/ from Azir.

I mean, both were resurrected. Both had a part in the fall of their beloved kingdoms, and, chances are, the king will want his realm to be brought back just like Azir. The only difference may just be the attitude and personality they hold. Who knows? Maybe while Azir may want to do things peacefully, the RK may want to start war and plunge everything into chaos. Like a "You will wall share my fate."
