A question about gangplank

So i was just wondering something... Why the sudden aging of Gangplank? he went from a spry pirate captain in his 20s-30s following in his fathers footsteps... into pretty much being his father lol. Why such a drastic shift? I could have seen him with a salt and pepper beard but going from his curly brown haired young face to a long straight grey haired aged face seems to drastic a shift. I get he is getting the overhaul all around but it feels a little much. even if it was just a little color added into his beard it would really give a few years back to him. As it stands though... the new look does not really mesh with how the current event storyline portrays him.

I have a hard time seeing this GP leaning over a guys flayed open leg carving an intricate image into his bone. He now looks more like a captain that tells his crew to fight while he watches over them and not leading the horde into battle. I always thought of gangplank as the later and the storyline kind of develops him that way.
