Zelos' fate according to Irelia's VO.

The exact quote is: ** "Father. Mother. Zelos. O-ma. Ohn. Kye. Little Ruu... None of them ever had the chance"**

Please, PLEASE...

I do hope there is something more in the stove for Zelos. Although it was only mentioned as a background character in the old lore (Institute of War lore), I always hoped he could become a future champion (as I imagined Kassadin's daughter would become one).

According to this interaction, he is either lost or dead. I am almost positive Riot will add more lore for some of the other characters as was reflected in the other quotes ("I didn't light my O-ma's lantern, I don't want her to see this slaughter"), but I really, really hope Zelos' fate is left open ended, at least would leave some hope for those wild theory people who would love to see him in Summoner's Rift.

Why are people attached to that guy?

I'm sure Irelia's extended lore will give us some more info on Zelos, but I'm not sure how I would feel about him as a champion...

When worldbuilding, it's very difficult to resist the temptation to bind all your major characters together with juicy friend/family/foe ties, and likewise I think Riot is aware of and actively resisting the temptation to turn all their background characters into foreground ones.

The fact that Kassadin's daughter really did make the transition may limit the number of times they feel they can comfortably pull that trick off.

Champions have been wrong in the past, so, we cant be 100% sure that Zelos died. But that is what Irelia thinks, she may be right, but we dont know... Anyways, he is canon.
