In my opinion, Riot was actually going for that overly cocky richgirl thinks shes so good kinda feel. And thats what they got too. You can feel it from the first glance.

To be fair, Reav3 was also alluding to this when he said that she "thinks she's an empress / thinks she deserves to be one".

yeah. But people heard jungle civilization so they expected nidalee 2.0. This is just people making themselves angry again.

I think the issue is that they were also going for some Mesoamerican-inspired ancient civilization. Meanwhile, she looks like a Hispanic Valley Girl who happens to have some appropriate jewelry just because her doting abuelas gave them to her as presents.

To put her into a cartoon in a ritzy posh setting all you'd have to do to her is take away her weapon.

When she was first revealed I immediately thought "she's gonna be a 'bitch-princess' type character, isn't she?" and being that that's exactly her character, the art team(s) is doing their jobs right.

Further more, people were complaining about her outfit because they assumed she's a jungle savage who shouldn't have such a spiffy outfit, not knowing that Ixtal, her region, is basically magic Wakanda when they released the actual lore.

First thing I said when I saw her reveal was 'lol she's designed to get smacked down.' Which I think is hilarious.
