As someone who's played Rek'sai frequently recently, Rek'sai's damage output is actually pretty strong, especially early game. Rek'sai actually has very good scaling, so a full AD Rek'sai has the same level of burst as someone like Kha'zix. If you go Bruiser or Tank, you'll do much less damage do to Rek'sai's mediocre bases in exchange for getting to live about 2 seconds longer.

I played her recently with dark harvest. By about 3 items I straight up instagibed an enemy akali with zhonyas with just unburrow, q and titanic hydra animation cancel. a little later I ulted that same akali (my ult should have done 800 + 30% missing hp) and it only did 450 damage, she was half hp too. I don't think I understand the champion.

If rek'sai goes full AD, it deals serious damage. I've seen people going full ad with her and it bursts you like a paper. Even if you kill her 12 times, she will get carried by her team, eh...
