Flat Characters & Storytelling

Flat characters aren't bad. They're just...are what they are. They don't change over the course of a story. How would you like to see characters change over time in league of legends -as opposed to remaining static?

This could give a further justification beyond what Riot Jeredan said for short introductory bios in client, and full stories out of client. Full stories could be kept out of client, and keep being added to so you know what is currently going on with a character. While in client, describing a character in a brief format would introduce who a character is purely conceptually.

Among other things I would like to see Varus' journey down his dark path of vengeance. At his lowest moment something would change; new insight into his condition, desperation and a revelation that affects his purpose; rekindling of his humanity and the search of a way to reclaim his body while still struggling with himself and his loss.

I think some characters are fine static. Draven DrMundo Ziggs , etc., all kind of have their things, and they do those things, and it works.

Some characters, though, are really set up for bigger plot arcs where they accomplish some greater goal, like Riven Swain Ashe Diana , and if they never bother accomplishing that, it just looks odd. It's weird to see Riven running around muttering about redeeming herself while doing absolutely nothing redeeming whatsoever, unless her greatest crime was her inablity to find a dumb bunny suit.

I am not a fan of flat characters. If you're going to tell a story, having a character with a one note personality doesn't add anything. You certainly can't base any really interesting events or plots around a character who only does one thing. I'd say Riot should learn how to write some fiction but then again, they seem to not have alot of interest in it. They seem to want more generic fantasy types, and frankly that's boring.
