Ok...Just how old is Poppy?

Poppy

Poppy’s mind was overwhelmed with questions. Where was Orlon going? Where did he come from? How did he assemble this meticulous band of travelers, and was there a place for a yordle in it? At that moment, she made the most important decision in her life: For the first time ever, she would reveal herself to a human, as this was the first time she’d ever felt a connection with one.

The introduction was a jarring one, with Orlon having just as many questions for Poppy as she had for him, but the two soon became inseparable. He became a mentor to her, and she a devotee to his cause. In the training grounds, Poppy was an invaluable sparring partner–the only member of Orlon’s battalion who was unafraid to strike him. She was never obsequious, questioning his decisions with an almost childlike innocence, as though she didn’t know she was supposed to meekly follow orders.** She accompanied him to the site of the new settlement–an ambitious new nation called Demacia,** where all were welcome, regardless of station or background, so long as they contributed to the good of the whole.

If Poppy was around when Demacia was new..does that make her a few hundred years old? Or am I reading this wrong?

And on top of that, she ran around trying to pawn off the hammer for that ENTIRE TIME?

In other news, eyewitness reports still suck. I guess nobody wanted to admit to being saved by something that barely came up to their knees (or... however tall Yordles are supposed to be. I don't think we have an actual height guideline, and her new splash has too much perspective going on).

She's likely a few centuries old yes. She's older than Demacia itself! If I were to guess I'd say she's around...400-ish years old? Something like that.

This is something I pointed out when Kindred was announced. Riot seems to be adding more Legends into the League. Characters that have legendary status, be it current events or mere folklore. Braum's story, for example, is told by an old lady who heard the stories when she was her granddaughter's age. Twitch's story is told in Zaun sanitary and waste disposal reports. Tahm Kench tells his story from the perspective of the man he now possesses. Bard's story is told around a campfire, and his most recent "interaction" with Runeterra was during the chaos of the Noxian occupiation of Ionia.

Among the various champions, there is a divide between Heroes and Legends. The Heroes are current event characters like Garen, Jarvan, Katarina, Gangplank, Miss Fortune, etc. Characters that are all but 100% confirmed to exist in present day Runeterra. Then there are characters whose presence and interactions are told after the fact or in folklore, characters like Bard, Tahm Kench, Ahri, Aatrox, anyone from the Shadow Isles, and yes, including Poppy. These characters, their presence in the world, is ambiguous at best. They are seen in mere glimpses and their stories are told second hand and beyond; unlike other characters (including Tahm Kench who tells his own story), Poppy ends up bearing witness to the Legend that she created over time. How old she is is not entirely relevant, as the Poppy we play in game is likely just an illusion of the real Poppy.

I see League's new lore a little bit like Smite's, except not really. Whereas Smite's roster is entirely based on gods from real life mythology, League's Legend half of the roster draws from the series own fictional pantheon as it's slowly fleshed out.

Its probably cause of their innate magic which also enables them to achieve extraordinary things for someone of their stature.

Its also possible that Poppy is long been dead... we're only hearing of her story as part of the history of Demacia and Runeterra.

The creature we know as Poppy is in fact a being from the void, who enters new nations as they are formed, and takes up a place of importance within them. When the nation becomes too powerful, Poppy will transform into Lollipoppy, destroyer of worlds, and consume every inhabitant while they still live, prolonging its life off of their pain and fear. The update we are now seeing is the cycle beginning anew, after Poppy secretly destroyed Kalamanda, pinning the blame on Noxus.

To answer your question, Poppy is as old as fear itself.

Riot is constantly hinting at something with champion lores and quotes about this race....there is more than meets the eye with these yordles.
