--The Legend Continues--

The overhaul on the art of Summoner's Rift is a wonderful evolution for the 5v5 arena, but due to it's infancy there are bound to be problems - such as harsh edges and/or blurry textures, mysteriously floating textures, etc. These problems can be insignificant (and most likely will be) or intentional (or intentionally ignored) but still bothersome to those who have a fancy for art. As a player this is all very important because the new map is what brought me back to League of Legends.

The new map isn't without massive praise though of course! The art is beautiful, the minions and monsters have finally received the much needed improvement they deserved, and although I have a few problems with the new background they are still a huge improvement to the flat background. During my first game in the new map I found that I cared less for the game and more for the art. It took awhile to soak it all in. Thank you Riot for your hard work!

A few things I took note of during my experience in the new maps:

  • On the upper left hand corner where Dragon flies through the edges on the hills and cliffs appear to be sloppy cutouts. The edges also contrasts too highly with what's behind them and appear harsh.
  • The trees throughout the map have various problems pertaining to the outlines; rough cutouts, floating bits, and more.
  • The parallax for the background is too quick! It makes the background look closer than it should.
  • I don't know if it's just me but the blurriness in the textures makes my character feel slightly disconnected from the game world.

Feel free to leave feedback about the new map in the comments below!

Disclaimer: I do not expect any of the problems I have listed to be "fixed"
