I do love the look of the new splash art, it really matches the newest art style Riot's been going for. However, was honestly the last person I thought needed a new splash art at the moment, as good as the new one looks. Does this mean, however, that is going to get a new splash as well? Please don't, who could get rid of that face?!?

probably, Ququroon mentioned that these are bonus extra splash arts that were already 80-90% complete when they were working on the new skin splash arts for Nidalee/Trundle/Tristana

I heard these were more of passion work, meaning they were more from the needing of an artist to try and do the character justice than priorities.
