Summoners & Champions -Current Head Canons and Canon

What are your thoughts on the following matter?

My current reconciliation on the matter is that summoners do exist but are a bit like Planeswalkers in magic the gathering. They do battle with each other either to settle their own disputes or for their own entertainment and sample heroes from various worlds but at the present time -mainly versions Runeterra. When they summon these champions they actually create a limited reproduction of them that doesnt affect the original in its own plane. Some of these versions are Main Universe Runeterra, but others -mainly where skins come from are other versions of that universe.

Do you have any of your own?

Do you just accept it as it is -and if you do, do you think "Summoner" names, spells, and other things should eventually phased out too or left as holdovers?

At this point, until Narrative comes up with a reason why these champions are fighting, I'm of the opinion that it's all just a poorly explained version of Smash Bros.

Simply put, Mario and the other franchises used in Smash have 30 years of history and love from their fanbases. League has less than 5 years for their champions, and even that history is up in the air at this point.

I see Summoners as more as mission control. A summoners can suggest where their current champion will go, but it's ultimately up to the champion to make the decision. During moments of lag or disconnection, affected champions will also be pulled out of the match as well.

Actually there was a post saying that we are still Summoners in game.

This has left a pretty nasty taste in the mouths of people but well I thought you should know really.

Why? Do I really need to explain that?

I just outright refuse to believe the retcon happened.
