I've thought about this too. Maybe he sacrificed an eye to see into the future? He could be a prophet of some sorts, revealing the destinies of Sona, Garen, Zed, and Vi.

Who are those guys? Anyways, they all have some sort of horns. That vision guy in the PROJECT: Overdrive had horns, in the vision there were petals flying, Zed has petals flying in his thumbnail.
