Where is Sonora? (Sonoran Kog Maw)

So I bought Sonoran Kog Maw because it was one of the legacy skins available I really wanted and it made me think "What's Sonoran about this skin?"

I know it's an old skin so this land of Sonora may not exist in the new lore but I still thought it was up for discussion anyways. So...Where is Sonora? What makes this place unique enough for a skin to come out of it? I didn't play when the old lore was canon so I don't know much about the backstory behind this skin either.

If they flesh out this Sonora land in the new lore might they add more skins for it as well?
