I mean, the death flag was fully drawn the moment you read "-the traveling company would stop in Jandelle, a town so perfect and peaceful they would set aside their vagabond ways to raise their child"

but still, kinda wanted them to live :(

Death does not discriminate.

I doubt even Wolf would have enjoyed that endeavor, however. The adults, yes, but I feel even he would feel remorse for the child. But alas, they are a force of nature, to interfere directly with the affairs of mortals would likely attract the wrath of other entities, such as the likes of Bard. They are to fulfill their role, nothing more and nothing less.
