What is Void corruption?

So far, my understanding of the Void is that it's basically a cancer. A cancer that is slowing infecting Runterra. Even the champions from the Void are all driven by growth/hunger, be that literally (like Kog'Maw and Cho'Gath) or figuratively (like Kha'Zix and Vel'Koz who strive to either absorb either strength or knowledge).

Riot's description of the Void: " ...an infinite realm of unfettered creation, tortured landscapes of crazed organic machinery, magical weapon-looms and mountainous flesh-forges." The dictionary definition of cancer is: "A malignant abnormal growth resulting from the division of abnormal cells.

I get that is exists in a separate reality from Runeterra, kind of like Venn diagram only the overlaps are the tears Runeterra's reality instead of common ground. I also understand that the Void is the "big bad" of League O' Legends. What I'm a bit confused about is how the Void infects people like Rasho, Malzahar, and Kassadin. All they did was look at the Void.

In the new Nami comic she sees something in the depths, something that infected Rasho. (Page 56-64 approx.) http://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/comic/nami/intotheabyss/56/

What was it she saw? Why didn't it corrupt/infect her like is did the original Tidecaller? What is Void corruption?

Void corruption is the exact opposite of cancer.

Cancer is where part of an order system decides to start doing its own thing to the detriment of the whole.

Void 'corruption' is where part of a chaotic system is added into an ordered system and granted a higher purpose.

In cosmic horror, the main consistent theme is that the elder/outer gods are so far beyond our understanding that we cannot even perceive them. Recognizing the elder gods and their tendrils into our reality for what they are requires a frame of mind so alien to the human consciousness that, for all intents and purposes, you may as well be insane.

The Void borrows a lot from cosmic horror in this regard; looking on the Void and recognizing it for what it is is a form of enlightenment that can drive you mad. Rasho saw the void and thought it so beautiful that it consumed his very soul. Nami actually starts to do the same, but bangs herself on a rock, which brings her back to her normal state of mind before the Void's "wonder" could really take hold. In that moment, she saw the Void's beauty for what it was: a lure, just like the angler fish (or whatever they were) all around her on the way down. You'll notice she pulls back from Rasho when he offers to show her.

In addition, in her biography page, she describes the void she saw as a horror so great it had removed fear of anything else from her. So since she never looked deep into the Void as Rasho did, she kept her sanity and thus saw how terrible the corruption of the Void would be. And more to the point, that those who fell would WANT to. Such would be a fate worse than annihilation.

That's my takeaway, anyway.

What I wonder: Are the voidborn truly born in the void or are they creatures from different planets that entered the void and became fully corrupted?

I mean sure they are called "voidborn",but that could also refer to them being reborn within the void.

I still feel the shadow isles are still number 1 threat. You can kill alien/monsters. But ghosts/demons you gotta do a whole lot extra to handle that mess.

As for nami maybe her initial innocence or being a female of her species functioned as a mental armor vs the void, or perhaps the void is working ever so slowly and intricately on her so much so that it is unnoticed.

I think in order to get corrupted the creature needs to enter the void I think Rasho got in the portal and got corrupted.Nami just got near and I think she is fine.
