But Pepperidge Farm isn't gonna just keep it to Pepperidge Farm's self free of charge. Maybe you go out and buy us some of those distinctive RP cards, maybe this whole thing just disappears.

How is it hard, Blizzard brings out whole new games and expansions in less time than what Riot takes to do a moba champion VU, its just that their company sucks

A company can still be compared to a company. Your reply is like someone saying that a 7 year old can't drive as good a 21 year old, and you tell them, "different age, different skills." A 7 year old being worse than a 21 year old most of the time is still true though. Blizzard is better than Riot, and considering that Riot is soon going to be full on competing with Blizzard means they need to deliver.

Ehh, it just feels like aram to me. If I wanted to play aram all the time I'd be interested in it.

doombotMECHA1 votes

none of the abilities feel like they have any impact, there's no real HOLY FUCK moments like garen's villain ult or lux's ult. Also team XP+map objectives makes games really snowbally. Maybe that's just cause I'm level 9, tho.

Ralanr1 votes

Eh, ETC has a fun knock back. But yeah I get your point.

Kaiser Noah1 votes

The Butchers Lambs to the slaughter is the "Holy fuck" moment. The whole team chained to a post.

Ralanr1 votes

That's the ability that forces him to charge right at a target right?

Kaiser Noah1 votes

No, a post pops up and chains an enemy hero to it, they can only move so far or else they are yanked back.

Kaiser Noah1 votes

Well it also has a cool affect for blizzard fans, Like "Woah I get to play as Arthas again!?!?!"

Heroes of the Storm will never compete with League of Legends. At most I can foresee a brief period where people says that the quit LoL and go to HotS just to come back several weeks later.

People like you said the same thing about DotA lol, how LoL would never compete with it.

The circumstances are the same, but think about it. HotS is trying to grab the casual players LoL left behind. But casual players are just that: casual. Good to fill up and attract new players, worthless for a constant stream of revenue, because at any moment they might jump at the next big "thing", leaving only empty servers in their wake. After establishing themselves into the casual market, who are they're gonna attract? DotA players? They won't touch an even more casualized game that LoL was when it first appeared on the scene. LoL players? They're already playing LoL! New players that want to try MOBAs out? Most likely either go straight for LoL or DotA, or use HotS as a gateway drug to get to both of those.

"What about people who don't like MOBAs?" - I hear you ask - "They're probably going to be attracted to HotS' streamlining of things!". Sure, at first. But there's a reason those players don't like MOBAs. Once the novelty wears out and they realize just how much they have to grind just to get a Hero, then have to grind again to get its full skills, then AGAIN to get the right to buy their skins...

HotS is one of those weird games that appeals to a casual market yet demands constant commitment. Doesn't seem like the type of thing which can have much success, but hey, I'll be happy to eat my words and go play Raynor if I'm wrong.

KaisadiIIa1 votes

You can't be seriously comparing DotA with HotS.

Even though I agree, I'd say the HotS is trying to reach the newly formed casual market Riot left behind when they evolved their game.

LoL sort of started as a kiddy/padded version of DotA All-Stars, with many abilities adapted from it. Season 1 and 2 saw a big influx of players, both because of lore (season 1) and because more complex mechanics and champions were coming that offered something DotA didn't (comeback mechanics, ability scaling, different classes, less mana gating, etc.). Season 3 and 4 saw an evolution and refinement of previously accomplished goals, with more complex champs that could compete with all but two (Meepo and Invoker, and the last one's debatable) of DotA's roster, and in many cases surpass them.

All this was good, and created a very loyal fanbase that evolved with the game, while attracting a lot of "hardcore" and professional players, but you can't deny the casual market is now open grounds for the taking.

If HotS manages to do what LoL did, grab a casual market then slowly evolve their game, they might be able to overtake League's niche. But I don't buy it. Overwatch has a bigger chance at being a successful enterprise than HotS.

LoL's the World of Warcraft to DotA 2's EVE Online: both fill two different niches in their specific genre, and they will probably die only when the genre as an whole dies.

Jesus christ, LoL is currently one of the biggest and most influential games in the world, and you're telling me they don't have enough staff and money? -_-

UomoAfide9 votes

All the money goes to different teams and resources (Skins, Champion Updates, Story and Background, Balance team, Music; just to name a few). Did you know that Morello is currently leading the team that is developing new ideas for other games? It doesn't really seem to me that Riot is doing nothing with their money.

KaisadiIIa1 votes

Maybe they will be able to properly call themselves "RIOT GameS" in the future.

UomoAfide1 votes

That's what we all hope :v

you realize you get this game for free, right? what do you think their budget looks like?

MrSlowDie1 votes

well, people buy skins. and it makes the game one of the highest revenue with $964 million iirc

Even though i still play new sion, I prefer old sion over new. I'm waiting patiently for them to revert back to old sion.

Tebarn25 votes

People still hoping that Riot gonna revert reworked characters?....

And BTW, i prefer new Sion. As long a they are people who prefer new over old, Riot will never revert characters (because that mean supressing their work. Think about it.)

doombotMECHA14 votes

idk about all of you but i enjoy having 4 abilities that all synergize with my build instead of only 2

KarKzz2 votes

Even is more people prefer the old, riot will NEVER EVER revert reworks. Champions get their kit totaly reworked, because their old kit was toxic (anti-fun, low interactivity, ..)

KaisadiIIa3 votes

Or just ridiculously useless, gimmicky and anti-synergistic with itself (like old Sion's was).

Wyrmblade12 votes

If they're gonna revert a rework then revert a bad one like Cass or Morde. Sion is easily one of the best kits and looks riot's ever made.

You better buy an apartment in the general area you're waiting at, get comfy, marry, have 3 beautiful kids, die in bed with your wife, afterwhile your kids will continue your legacy and get rich, preserve your apartment and your corpse, and have it remain as such until the heat death of the universe, because BROTHER, you are in for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG wait.

J Epstein2 votes

lol, i'm bad at conveying an unserious statement on the interwebz. of course they won't ever revert any rework ever, ever. I was just was playing on what the OP said "For everyone impatient about VU's, think about how hard that is XD". It wasn't hard at all for some people, and some would consider that the VU was a downgrade.

For the OP and general League community: VU was a blessing from the heavens,

For me and a few other anomalies: We would prefer old Sion. He was silly looking with silly quotes and enjoyable to play. New sion is ok, much more serious and we know they won't revert, We just enjoyed old sion more. that's all.

** he's still my main tank( can't stress this enough because people automatically think I hate new sion)**

Ralanr2 votes

Don't know why there isn't a classic Sion skin to be honest.

J Epstein1 votes

Would be cool. all his current skins kind of suck.

Ralanr1 votes

Oh my god yes. I only like his base. I really want a new Sion skin. Like Predeath or Paladin.
