Piltover

I'm guessing that a lot of you guys are, for lack of a better word, triggered. The Jayce lore comes out and Viktor is shown as a guy who cuts open people's heads to turn them into slaves. Well I'm here to tell you to be patient.

The page that released the new Piltover lore is incomplete. You can clearly see at the top of the page that there's still content to be unlocked. And what's this? Not only the Piltover logo (on the left), but also the Zaun logo (right)! That, coupled with the fact that the third part is entitled "Piltover Champion Tales," leads me to believe that they're also planning on releasing Zaun lore in the near future.

The Jayce Viktor dynamic has always been written to be the same story from two different angles. Jayce's biography is from his perspective, and I have little doubt that Riot will show us Viktor's soon. Don't lose hope yet!

Btw, I actually don't know if someone else has already said this on the boards, but I'ma post this anyway.

Lots of people, me included, have been trying to make them feel better. I've found them to be mostly inconsolable.

The people I've been talking to have basically logic'd their way into a corner where they are convinced that there is NOTHING Riot could do to undo the damage to Viktor. And given their high demands regarding his lore, they are probably right (with regards to their own feelings).

The thing about retcons is that the people passionate about the original story have to make peace with some details changing. Everyone knows that. The problem is when the intended purpose of the character doesn't match those people's perception of him.

I think Viktor was always intended to be a slightly insane extremist. His original lore didn't capture that very well, and that led to a lot of people believing that he was this "neutral force" in Runeterra. I don't think that's how he was intended. Now, from Riot's point of view, they are "fixing" that problem, and the people who liked the broken version will never be happy with that.

The Jayce Dynamic has always been this. Viktor's dynamic was self sustaining. Viktor's story at no point required Jayce, and it was Jayce's lore that required him to lean on Viktor as his Villain. This retcon has simply left Viktor now unable to stand on his own because he's been forced to be a foil to Jayce. Viktor's story was never dependent on Jayce, but now his story simply cannot exist. Viktor has been reduced to a villain for Jayce. That is the problem. I find it difficult to hold my breath to see if Narative can really fix this with Viktor's lore.

My decision on the new lore is ultimately going to be decided by the two (at maximum) paragraphs that will be in Viktor's lore after he get's kicked out of piltover, and before he robs Jayce.

Well, he could be Zaunite, and then went to study in Piltover, a bit like Ekko could do. Either way, he is more related to Zaun right now.

And for example, Vi is a Piltie cop, while being a Zaunite.

Also, the way Viktor is seen only adds more to the fact that he's even more misunderstood.

This thread should be stickied to all those Viktor fans, and if even his perspective is strange, that's when all of us can start complaining.
