Regarding Super Galaxy

Riot, I am very disappointed. It appears you have grown lazy in your skin design. My contempt with your lack of effort most deeply lies with kindred. Now, a skin is supposed to be an extension of a champion, giving it a different look and feel while still maintaining the overall character and lore of the champion. Shadow Fire Kindred is a great example. It keeps the aspect that kindred represents a sort of yin yang, and also expands on the lore since we know that kindred is known by different names and different forms throughout the world. We can clearly see wolf represents the devil and kindred represents archangel michael, the angel of death. Super galaxy kindred doesn't do this. There is no yin and yang (except for a lighter color scheme and a darker color scheme) and there is no expansion of the lore. They're machines, not mysterious spectral beings. I'm sure some players would make the claim that skins such as the pool party series or the worlds champions series like SKT skins don't expand the lore. To that I say that worlds champions skins are made as celebration for an event and therefore don't count. As for pool party type skins, they still keep the overall character of the champions, such as with pool party Ziggs having not just a pool theme, but using water balloons to satisfy his explosive urges. Now, I can't deny that the particles and colors from the Super Galaxy skins look nice, but that's all that they are. Flashy colors.

Sincerely, a disappointed player

Hey Link McNoot!

First off, I want to thank you for taking the time to leave feedback! ^-^

You're correct in that the goal of skins is to create an alternative fantasy for a champion - in this case something a bit more mechanical, which is completely different from the ethereal base skin for Kindred.

To your point of skins continuing the lore - that's not entirely true. While yes, some skins (like the ones in Burning Tides) are lore-focused, not all skins are (and aren't meant to be) aligned with the champion's lore.

If that were the case, we would be severely limited in terms of thematics. For example, Lux is a military girl (which is expressed in her skin catalog), but if we purely stuck to her lore, Star Guardian Lux would be out of the question, as it doesn't follow suit with her lore. However, her bubbly, positive personality is still captured with the Star Guardian thematic. Likewise, we like to flip champions on their heads for some skins - Reaper Soraka, for example. It allows players to play a darker side of Soraka, as opposed to what her lore makes her out to be.

... and there is no expansion of the lore.

What are you talking about?

Less than 90% of the skins are canon, including Shadow Fire Kindred.

The skins are SUPPOSED to be different from the classic look of the champion.
