Suggestion: Add Universe page in the Client [ Pictures inside] & diff. bet. descriptions and stories

Yep. Its nice to see the mini tid bits of lore in the in game client while their full stories/chunks of lore is in the universe page. Like saying they are just descriptions of those champions and when you're hook with it, you'll just go directly to the universe page and read all full stories of those champions.

Because not just me, but any one likes lore. First of all i want to suggest this because i like LOL's lore and i want the community to know it. Because there are some people who doesn't know the universe page yet or even lol's lore. So please implement it.

I hope the new bio's(in the PBE) of champs will serve as a new trend to the in game client because this are just some of its descriptions of those champs. BTW this are the list of bio's that got replaced and some just got their quotes removed( because some descriptions doesn't need quotes. Making their quotes in their universe page more appropriate ):

Hope some champs gets the same treatment(making them just mini descriptions) as those in the new client and maybe make a hyperlink at the end of those mini lores to the universe page.

I think the idea of a 'universe' tab is a pretty good idea. Right now, if people are interested in the lore/longbios/whatever they ACTIVELY have to search for it (via google search most likely). Having a Universe tab in the client would cut down the middleman.

A problem, I think, is that most of the lore is text based. The VAST majority of lore is text based. And right now only a handful of champions have comics or short videos to them. Because of this, it might seem 'dull' to see short bio text for 90% of the champs and a few champs (I'm thinking MF) gets a bunch of comics, shorts stories, and even an unfinished vid clip.

Given that the client currently doesn't have hyperlinks to the longbios/short stories. Yes, people interested in the lore do ACTIVELY have to search for it.

The reality is that if, for example, I wanted to learn more about Jarvan I would go to his champion page in the client and read the bio. That's great. How would I know that on the Universe page there's an updated (read: different) bio from the one in on his in-client page, or that there's a short story for him (Ivory, Ebony, and Jasper)?

Well, clearly one has to go either open up a browser, open up their preferred search engine (i.e. Google) and search 'Jarvan lore' and go through a few hits before finally figuring out there's a universe page. This means that in order to find lore, you have to go through some middle man, be it a forum/reddit/officialboards/google before you can find MORE lore on Jarvan.

Do you understand now that people 'actively' have to search it? Hell, that all depends on if they even know this stuff exists.

Riot do an amazing job at promoting their content through all sorts of different mediums. Including mini-sites; independent League News websites & Youtube channels; Animations/ reveal trailers; arguably these very Boards as well and most notably the home page of the client itself. One would have to be a drooling monkey (or they just don't play League often enough to understand) not to find the Universe site and all it's content, especially after these last 14 months.

Anyone that is somehow still ignorant to that content is unlikely to have ever cared to go looking for it in the first place. Because there are soo many different ways to discover or stumble across lore already.

It's safe to assume a lot of us here started following League's lore long before the Universe site. I started maybe 12 months beforehand. Back then lore was a hell of a lot harder to find and understand. Personally I had no issue finding any of the lore and I was self taught the difference between non-canon and canon content pretty damn easily.

So either it's not as hard as everyone thinks and all that's required is some basic common sense + additional perception. Or I'm a bloody genius... which isnt likely compared to the former.

We are saying, make the lore more accessible to those that have not been following it since before the Retcon, so that more people are likely to become engaged.

There is already a multitude of opportunities for access to narrative and the larger community have this promoted to them either through Riot's own content and ads or independant news sites, including Youtubers. So newcomers realistically shouldn't be struggling. Yet the lore fans seem to undermine these player's capabilities, at least I have faith.

Im not opposed to perminant links in the client. Im opposed to this foolish perception that people cant already find lore for themselves.

Im also saying anyone by now who is still completely ignorant towards the last few years of lore are unlikely to care for it in the future. With or without links in client, nevermind that lore is in fact promoted in-client.

(Also I'd recommend to OP to put this thread in GD and get their response first because the SA&S community are too baised here.)

Maybe English isn't your native language, but 'undermine' implies we are ACTIVELY trying to sabotage players from engaging in the lore. We aren't. At least, for me, I don't think I am.

Yeah, you can have faith all you want but it's not changing the fact the lore community, compared to the size of the league overall community, is utterly shit. I mean honestly - it's utterly shit. Nobody talks about the lore in great strings of conversations like you would see in warcraft, GoT, or 40k fandoms. There's a multitude of reasons for why LoL lore is lackluster Access is probably one of them.

Okay so i do sympathize, players down here in OCE are pretty ignorant of lore. I've began a few of my games asking the team basic lore trivia once.. Q: Which city came first Piltover or Zaun? A: Zaun. I'll give honors to anyone who gets it right and if they show interest I would explain why. Its just somthing nerdy i like doing.

Anyway, Im engaged here and apart of the Boards community as you are. Here to socialize with like-minded people and associates as much as you would too. I recognize others names in SA&S and I'm confident you do as well. And were having a civilized debate trying to summarize perspectives, but i didnt expect to be scorned just for sitting on the fence over the topic.

Yeah "undermine" was a retarded choice of word (im embarrassed) perhaps "disregarding" would have been simple enough?

The sort of players you described (go to r/lol, surrender@20, etc, etc) might not be representative of the 'casual player'. You know, the kind that might play a few games a weekend with his/her friends or some shit. If anything, you're focusing a very specific subgroup of e-sports oriented fans. Yeah, these people know all the sites, wikis, and etc that exists out there. I would argue those are the top 10-20% of hardcore players. Probably way less.

My point is that you make it sound so easy, but it's not. You sound like a teacher in a classroom screaming at a kid in an intro calc class "HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO FIND THE INTEGRAL? IT'S SO EASY!" Well, yeah it's easy for you - you've done it all your life.

It's Riot's job to guide these new players who don't know they like the lore yet. They can't just be teachers screaming at kids "But it's so easy! I have faith in these kids!" Well, yeah. You have faith in the 'smart' kids. I don't have faith in a dumbfucks sitting in the backrow watching LCS on their phones.

I think putting in links in the client to the universe page is good idea to show new players with an interest in lore that there is more lore out there, especially officially sanctioned lore. If you think it doesn't help. That's OK. I fail to see what's wrong with adding links to the client to the universe page. What harm does it really do?

That would be great! One of the best things about league is their world building with tons of different characters with awesome lore. When I started this game way back when I spent a great many hours exploring the lore.

i keep saying the same thing! if not just having a "read more" option on client at end of their lore would be nice that opens explorer and related pages.
