The Shurima Event - Will it be like Bilgewater, or Targon?

When the Bilgewater event happened last year, it was one hell of an exciting time. New maps, new voices, champion reworks, icons, in-game involvement to a small extent (The TFate/Graves support thing), lore reworks AND actual story progress with the Burning Tides plot line. Hell, after my first year exams at uni I plan to get one of the login screens as a poster!

So imagine my disappointment when the Targon event came, which set up a potentially awesome plot line for a story yet ended up being nothing more than a couple of lore reworks that went nowhere... Lore reworks that also butchered several champions :P

With this in mind, what should we expect from the new Shurima event that's apparently coming up? Is it going to be like the Bilgewater event, or the Targon one? Should we expect more of the former or the latter?

Probably Targon-esque. I'm happy for that because it means story, and I like story. Wouldn't mind skins or game modes to accompany it but you know what, I'll take some lore on its own.

I dunno we'll see how it goes, but I'm just happy for Shurima finally coming around. After that we can start pestering Jaredan about what part of the world will be getting focus from foundations next!

Targon wasn't an event. It was simply a lore update that coincided with new releases. Burning Tides was an actual event, with an accompanying game mode.

If I had to guess, this is just going to be a lore release with the new champion (which, by the way, is something people begged about for a long time: a lore release that didn't have to be tied to a big event)

Does everyone forget the shurima event from 18 months ago? It had skins, lore, a new champion, and a featured game mode. What you're asking for already happened....

I would expect something like Shadow Isles Update rather than Mount Targon update. Firstly we get an update on champions, then they release a story like Shadow and Fortune, because Shurima is much bigger than Mount Targon lore-wise and a lot event happened in story.

since we've already got a shurima event (like bilgewater) in 2014, this is going to be a mount-failing-targon one.

Probably like Targon.

I guess this "event" is what they couldn't do with the previous retcon + Taliyah as new champion.
