We need more players like you. I hate it when people blast an idea just because THEY don’t like it. It puts too much pressure on creators and the last thing I want Riot to stop doing is coming up with more and more innovative and unique ideas to introduce into the game

Yep, she is cute and adorable. I don't look for cute and adorable in my champs, I look for how metal and brutal a character is. And thats fine, plenty of people clearly like her, just like they liked Zoe, and I have no reason to complain because I got the Aatrox/Urgot rework and Pyke.

Who is the target audience? No I'm not joking.
Maybe 10% of league players are females and most of them are supports, where neeko is a midlaner. If we guess that 5% of the women playing league are lesbians that means the target audience has an expected value of around 0.5% of league players. That's an incredibly tiny number. Unless that group is also where most of your whales come from, I don't see why anyone would intentionally target such a small group. This is partly why I'm thinking certain aspects of her theme were put in place to placate kotaku and to keep the new inclusion officer away from the champion pods. To be bluntly honest that seems like it'd have more value to riot than 0.5% of the player base. This is the gaming industry and if we've learned anything it's that in the GI is that the customers don't matter aside from the whales, who exist to be milked like that thing Luke milked the TLJ.
Sexuality aside, I think there's a more obvious question: who wants to play as lizard girls? That seems like a weeb thing, but weebs have Ahri, sona, zyra, xayah, nami, cass, battle bunny riven, etc. Did riot choose a lizard because they were running out of tails to stick on a female character? Why not a cat girl or a full time bunny girl? Why not do a crab girl for ghostcrawler?
Now to be be fair, I think a lot of her visual aesthetics are thanks to Zoe. People loved Zoe's theme so riot tried to redo it for better or worse. It also gave them a chance to move away from sexy females like kai$a. Plus there's also her kit shenanigans which I think will attract or turn off the most amount of people to her because at the end of the day this is a game.
That said, I'm genuinely curious as to what kind of decision making process went into making her.
In fairness I think the last new champion aimed at my taste has been... Darius? Yeah can’t think of any after him.

Thank you very much. I hate when people flame a new character because they do not personally like it. I did not care for Kai'sa or Pyke and have tried playing both a lot, but I just let it go because they are not meant for me. I know there are people who love them, but I do not and that I okay. We all have different tastes and we should not be flaming a character just because we do not like its playstyle.

Except my preferred type of champions are already in the game, so I don't really care for these new champs so much. How much do we want to bet that Neeko will become obsolete like almost all the other "new" champs released the past couple years? Meanwhile the "old but gold" champs will remain as they are.

I am personally very very pleased with Neeko's design kit and personality. She's the first new mage champ in the last 4 years I've been playing that actually makes me super excited for her release. (I also loved Xayah, Rakan and Kayn but they aren't roles I typically play except for Rakan)
