rival question
yo, so what's the purpose of certain rivals being shown up on champ lore page? For example, there are a lot of rivals that are still there but have no presence in the updated lore nor have any interactions at all ingame.

They originally intended to list relationships among champions on the official site. "Friends" standing for positive relationships and "Rivals" for rivalries or enmities.
A lot of these relationships are things that were planned when they were added to the site,even if they weren't in the lore yet(for example Sivir listed Cassiopeia as a rival even before Cassiopeia stabbed her in the back or Xerath was listed as a rival of Nasus,before the 2 had any interaction at all).
However the whole "rival/-friend"-sectionthing has been largely abandoned by now. The site of these champs only update when the champ in question gets a big makeover(hecarim still lists yorick as a friend,even though Yorick is an enemy of the shadow isles) Heck the champion site in general seems to have been abandoned by now as it still doesn't list Xayah and Rakan.
The universe page scrapped the seperation of "Friends" and "Rivals" altogether and simply lists the related champions,but just like before,there are some relationships already there,that haven't happened yet.
Some of those rivalries have been there since quite a while. Some Champions just straight up don't have any quotes to their rivals, and the few that do have been subject to an update of some sort (see; Garen's quotes to Katarina, Nasus' quotes to Renekton, Renekton's quotes to Nasus, so forth and so on.)
Talking about no presence in updated lore though, I'm kinda curious what you mean. Which Champions are you talking about for that part?
I think part of it is that Riot's new policy is that champion stories aren't finished, nor is the lore we're given necessarily entirely complete. It's possible that some of those rivals are outdated with the new lore, but it's also possible that the relationships there simply haven't featured in the stories we've seen yet about that character. :)
