Religion

Why isn't there a religion in league? I'm not talking the religions on earth but religion in general. I feel like a lot of interesting stories and interactions could occur between said religion and the shadow isles.

EDIT: MFW I realize my mistake in not looking further into the lore....

Well.. let's see, there's the Solaris and Lunaris who have their own belief system that is an antithesis of the other. Then there's Malzahar's Void Cult, not to mention an implied idea that the ancient city of Icathia might have worshipped the Voidbornes themselves. There's also Elise's cult that lures people to their demise (unless that's been retconned too).

I could be wrong but there's probably more either implied or not fleshed out yet?

not to mention that in twitchs lore one of the persons who were attacked by twitch said "godsdammit",which implies that zaun actually has several gods.

Don't forget, Lissandra and the Frost Guard worshiping the Frozen Watchers. Also the Shadow Isles has many characters who have a fanaticism which is very religious. Just look at Karthus. :P

Let's also not forget the Shuriman sun reverence, Demacia's likely religious (albiet ambiguously religious) attitudes, and those who follow the teachings of Karthus.

There are, but nothing is outlined in great detail.

Riot can't even do characters, how the fuck are they going to tackle entire systems of metaphysics and epistemology?

well, the items: item 3040 item 3070 item 3007 confirm that they believe in a godness (and angels)

And Vilemaw is a pseudo god.

Soraka was a goddess. I'm sure she had her share of followers before her fall from grace.

I also remember reading that the Ionians practiced ancestral worship.

Sivir is supposedly an atheist. "The only thing I look up to is the sky."

#Demacia was confirmed to have churches

Some of them feature Aatrox in the stained glass windows

I'd argue that there is to some degree.

Who do Noxians worship? What is their religion.

Darwin.

Darwin.

You mean the Glorious Evolution? I'd call it more of a lifestyle rather than a mere religion, you know :P You need to be a hell lot of a devoted person to turn into a machine for a cause.

The Glorious Evolution is Viktor's movement, and he has nothing to do with Noxus. He's a Zaunite, and a scientist. And science... is about as opposite from religion as you can get.

Not quite, in some cases. Roman Catholic teaching post-Vatican II actually agrees with the current scientific model of creationism. There are some other examples of religions who disagree (creationists), but science is not entirely separate.

Yeah, you're right, some have accepted certain scientific theories. I think it has been said that evolution does not pose a threat to religion, as well as heliocentric system. They're one of the accepted theories. I only meant that they do not mix, in a sense. Religion is based on faith, while science is based entirely on verifiable evidence.

No, I didn't meant that, in fact I was jesting, because my point was Noxus' unwavering stance on strength determining all. Survival of the fittest, might is right, etc. which is what people associate with Darwinism sometimes, ie, Social Darwinism.

Nami's people need a Chosen one to survive. A Tidecaller. Of course the moonstone is to ward off enemies, but the ceremony once it is retrieved from the deep can very well be religious :3

Shen religiously serves the "Equillibrium" like it's a god of some sort.
