That wasn't purple smoke

This is after I heard a theory from someone and realized it's probably most likely true. So in the Awakened video we see Jhin's traps going off and the mercenaries caught in them explode into purple and blue smoke. The thing is his traps aren't magical like that since we know that when they go off instead what happens is a lot of shrapnel is launched. We also know that Jhin is batshit insane and sees his killing as art like in his teaser and if you look closely at the start the dead people in the seats have Jhin's burning flower coming out of them. So considering all these facts it's most likely not purple and blue smoke we see but rather viscera and blood spraying around the place from Camille's/True point of view plus those mercenaries exploded into the same smoke when Jhin shot them.[sg-ahri-1]

Painting the theater would be easier if blood came in more colors.

I'm pretty sure Jhin likes to make killing beautiful by adding things like colorful smoke. He sees killing as a thing that can be beautiful, that doesn't mean that there aren't deaths that are ugly to him. Otherwise, I'm sure he'd be more of a go to war and murder everyone type, not a perfectly planned kill assassin type. Also, a lot of weapons and traps from zaun/ piltover are fueled by magical hextech crystals. That was shown in the scene where Camille breaks in (this was my favorite scene in the entire cinimatic, it was so cool), those weapons were obviously hextech fueled. I wouldn't doubt that when these crystals explode they create smoke like most things do.

Painting is a form of art, but some painters hate certain painting styles. I know a few artists that think that abstract isn't a real form of painting. Same thing probably applies to Jhin. He wants death to be perfect and honestly I think he accomplished that because the scene looked beautiful to me and most viewers. He wants his work to be seen by everyone (literal quote from him), so if his work was just a bunch of blood flying everywhere that obviously wouldn't be much of a show. He's insane but I'm pretty sure he doesn't have scizophrenia.

When the trap on the chandelier went off there was nothing there and yet there was purple smoke.

Jhin's gun actually transforms people's flesh. So no surprised if he blew those guys into purple smoke. It's been stated that time and time again. The traps he had and the smoke there was actually there....not just in his imagination.

Oh god just think back on it now or rewatch with that in mind.

Yeah but when they were going off the sharp thingies would go everywhere not just on the person that stepped on it. And since Camille was near them especially the one triggered the trap and she came out alive...

Actually, it was purple haze.

An interesting theory (Possibly fact?) about Jhin is that his gun is from Ionia. Now, you may be wondering "hold on, but Ionia isn't exactly a technologically advanced place". Which is true. So we have to consider one of two things:

A.) Ionia got their hands on tech/Jhin grabbed some in Zaun/Piltover B.) His gun is magical.

Now, if you recall from the cinematic, Jhin wasn't exactly firing "bullets" per say but rather magically charged rounds. Another interesting thing is if you look at the gun itself, it's made of some sort of "white stone" material....similar to Lucian's guns. Now, it'd be a stretch, but what if Jhin's bullets are actually just magical energy? What if the items and creations he makes aren't so much traps but rather arcane lures that lock people into place?

Of course the obvious flaw is that he reloads. To which I say it's either him "reloading" not with bullets but with energy or possibly releasing the gun's energy and letting it refuel the "magic" stores.

No matter how you slice it, Jhin's weaponry borders on the magical and I'd love to see more information on how Whisper works.

Jhin: "This would be easier if blood came in more colours..."

I guess he found a compromise.

I saw purple smoke and clicked thinking this was some elaborate Jojo reference (Fugo's stand in Jojo part 5 is called Purple Smoke in the anime)

but you still make a great point.

If you remember his teaser video his kills have multiple different effects, and its impossible to incorporate so many different features in to a 4 ability kit. Its very possible that the traps to release that smoke like that for this instance.

Agree. Necrit did make a fair point there.
