Durand...Well Played Riot. Well Played.

On the boards a user made a character by the name Durand, the Unliving Artificier, back in 2010. Years later I'm reading the bio of Galio and lo and behold I find Durand mentioned here. Was Durand an original concept made by a fan of the game or was he made by Riot and left the fan to his imagination to what sort of champion Durand can be?
