A Thick Female Champion. How Would You Make Her the Most Awesome?

Solideus·11/15/2014, 9:33:41 AM·14 votes·15,295 views

I don't think there is any inherent value in designing champions to appease political correctness, but a heavier female champion *would *make a good contrast next to some of the svelte females. Not saying obese though; somewhere between Gragas and Jinx there is an appealing, attractive body shape.

If the goal was to make a heavy and curvy female champion, what traits, archetypes, attributes, fantasies and design-decisions would go the best with that? Role, Faction, Visuals, Clothing, Personality, Etc. What are your favorite examples of heavy female characters?

Someone who towers over her enemies. Someone who could go in one-to-one combat with any of the League's strongest male champions, matching them in strength and endurance. Someone who would scream bloody murder about turning your entrails into a necklace, but happy to crack jokes once her rage is settled; a pleasant medium between Olaf and Braum. Essentially, a character who loves to fight but not to the point of obsession.

As for body type, the best I can imagine is: http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080813052235/diablo/images/c/cd/Fem_barbarian.jpg

Nothing overtly sexualized (butt, breasts, and the like are at least reasonable), granted she is still wearing little more than a bikini, which is a bit silly.

As you can imagine, I do not think a character of this type would fit anywhere besides Freljord or Noxus. Maybe Bilgewater. Demacia is too polished, and they already have Shyvana, who has an absurd hip/waist ratio. I mean, holy shit, who thought that was a good idea? Ionia could be a reasonable fit, but I have difficulty seeing a fierce warrior who focuses on brute strength to originate from there. Shurima just would not be capable of supporting someone of that size, even with Azir uplifting it to a more livable country.

Also, off-topic, but I would like a male champion who is thin and effeminate, but not gay. A character that indulges in life's finer pleasures like Taric, but sensual and utterly cruel like Zyra.

I do not see why a heavy female champion would HAVE to be a specific big-lady archetype. There is no reason why Malzahar should have those well-muscled arms, yet, he does. There is no reason why Vi could not be a lot bigger than what she is, especially around the waste, yet she was designed that way.

I want more varied female bodies in Leauge of Legends. I would not see anything wrong with a fat female champion. She could be anything. A warlock, an engineer, a witchdoctor, a bruiser, a shapeshifter, a markswoman, a healer and so on and so on.

I think we can all agree that Riot champion designers does not entirely base their champs bodies of their respective professions/life-styles. Sometimes yes but not always.

You want to know how to make a badass fat chick...by making a badasss chick then making her fat.

Its not like its some sort of special process or anything, hell just look at Ellie.

I sure as hell wouldn't fuck with her after what I saw her do to that bandit.

Alternate skin over here

If you want to set her aside giving her a good identity like many of the other champions then you'll probably want to make her sort of a Road Hog.

OMG HOW BADASS WOULD THAT BE IF WE HAD A CHAMPION THAT RODE A MOTORCYCLE!

Also like another character from the Borderlands series

A bottle of syrup. That way League can get that sweet Aunt Jemima sponsorship money and rake in the profits.

In all seriousness I just wouldn't focus on her being big. Just a champion who happens to be that way. Like Lucian. He was the first black champ (Karma, I know, but she's kinda ambiguous), and it's not like he really calls a bunch of attention to it. The community will be immature about it, sure (How many times have you seen the "high-larious" photoshop of Lucian with the KFC bucket posted on League's FB page?), but they do that with everything.

I think at least the Tanky girls like Shyvana should look strong like this : http://i.imgur.com/uYoGQCj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JENUYLk.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ICzJG0a.jpg

She would make a fine tank and/or bruiser.

Sejuani is a good one. Does Leona count?

Also, thick =/= fat. Thick really means, just more toned.

I think there are several ways they could do this: 1.Making her still cute and adorable,I think this would still make her quite divisive,so it is a bit risky(because cute itself is divisive),but it would definetly get her some fans.

2.Making her motherly,I am not saying she needs to be a mom,but she simply get a motherlike personality,I think that would actually work very well on a more chubby character, probably better than on a skinny girl, could be combined with the "big-fun"-personality by making her quite cheery as well.

3.Simply making her extremely badass or crazy or both. This is more or less like the ellie-example from borderlands someone else posted here.If the character is crazy awesome enough then no one will care about her being chubby or even fat.

Xulsigae11/16/2014, 2:05:59 AM2 votes

I don't think that larger female champion necessarily needs to fall into the usual tropes of being motherly, jolly etc. She should be what she is first- a champion. No need for her to conform to tropes and stereotypes automatically simply based on her gender or weight.

I'd like her to be a grappler of sorts. Not a sumo wrestler, but more agile and such. Someone excelling in melee combat and controlling the placement of the enemy.

Gragas's wife.

TenshouSNK12/6/2014, 7:04:46 PM1 votes

Braum's daughter sounds fitting with the lore. She could be fat, not obese, just over-weight and heavy. But honestly, I would prefer a black fat shemale champion lol.

#She's a BRICK house

so she would be TANK.

Leona looks pretty bulky...or maybe that's just the armour..

http://www.boredpanda.com/athlete-body-types-comparison-howard-schatz/

How about Kathy Collins, the boxer? Thick build (for a woman. Genetically speaking, women do not vary as much as men do in terms of muscle mass once they've reached homeostasis), and still sexy.

Reisuke Naoki11/15/2014, 6:25:14 PM1 votes

what kind of "Thick lady" are you talking about anyways?

The 50-50 fat muscle type? the Muscled but fat layered type? or the 36-20-26?

then we can build up to that

An ample busom, thick doesn't mean you have to look bad either. Strong like amazon from Dragon's crown.
