Lore Theory: Ornn (Pre-Release)
Hello everyone! This is a theory I came up with after seeing Ornn's teaser. If it is true, then Ornn is even more badass than we are initially led to believe, and that is saying something.
So this theory came up after trying to decode the pages underneath the song. I have DeathBurs7 to thank for giving me some inspiration to to look into this further when I saw his thread. Here is what I've managed to uncover, along with some of my personal thoughts.
Evidence
“Once there were Three S-"
- Three Sisters: In Freljord this would be Avarosa, Serylda and Lissandra
- At this time they served the Watchers faithfully
“However, did not care to…”
*This seems like someone did not care to do something, I believe this is Ornn, wanting no part of the Watcher’s conquest
“Reasons, and he did not…”
- He probably had his own ideas of what wanted to do, and did not wish for conquest or power
“Journeying many days..”
- He decided to go on a journey instead. For what? To see the world? To find something?
“ ‘There are Creati-“
- There are Creative…
- Possibly Ornn met someone who inspired him to find creative uses for his power
“Said. She had Fie-“
- She had fiercely, or She had fierce
- Probably describing a physical feature if use is Fierce, or possibly her determination.
- If Fiercely, it means she fiercely did something, held onto hope? Believed in an ideal? Defended something? Guarded something?
“the World for…”
- not much can be gleaned here, but possibly a line like “scoured the world for…meaning and purpose” or something
“This sound(s)”
- Possibly pertaining to his Horn, the one we see in the teaser. If he was of the same vein as the three sisters, he would have some experience on the battlefield or training,
"So Ornn ..... -ape. Also He planned on di-"
- I think the -ape words is SHAPE, and the di- word is DIGGING. maybe it said "So Ornn had finished designing the SHAPE. Also he planned on DIGGING...something
"Ornn was finished with the tren- ..... word, for he had already said far too much to them"
- So Ornn finished digging the trench
- TRENCH would be the word
- In any case, I think Ornn was asked to build a trench for someone, and I think he may have protested, but did it anyway. The person who commissioned it did not listen to his guidance, and he turns away without another word when it is complete
Moving onto the next page, we have:
The first two lines don't have anything to go off of, as they're only three words, but the third has one word
"Bridge"
- I think it may be referring to the Murder Bridge that spans the Howling Abyss.
The Theory
After looking at all of this evidence, I deduce that Ornn is the one responsible for digging the Howling Abyss. I felt it was kinda odd that Freljord just happened to have a massive pit just laying around for Avarosa to chuck the Watchers into. But if Ornn was asked to build it, it makes much more sense. Ornn is a giant, the Howling Abyss is very deep. It would make sense that a Giant dug it, especially if Avarosa or Serylda had asked him to, as he seems to have some kind of relation with them (line 1). The Third verse of the song also supports this
"Barring your path is a chasm wide Howls rise from fathomless pits But close stands a bridge, frozen by time And across, you’ll soon find Ornn"
That chasm is undoubtedly the Howling Abyss and the bridge is the Murder Bridge. It is frozen by time because it was present at teh time of the Watchers because Ornn built the abyss, and possibly the bridge. It was preserved since then to warn Freljord of the Watcher's arrival (Gregor). It also explains Lyte's presence there. Lyte is Ezreal's uncle who is researching the True Ice. If the other boards users' theories are correct, it would make sense he'd be drawn to the Howling Abyss, close to the residence of Ornn, the forger of True Ice weapons.
But what does this mean?
I think we should all be on the lookout for an in-game teaser on the Howling Abyss. Like how Kled had he rustling brush, and Bard's mask imprinted on the terrain of summoner's rift. It would make perfect sense, as the being that built the Howling Abyss, that he'd have some kind of teaser there heralding his arrival.
TLDR; Ornn dug the Howling Abyss, possibly due by Avarosa/Serylda's request. Maybe even crafted the Murder Bridge.
But hey, that's just a theory, a LORE THEORY. Thanks for reading!
