At first I thought it was because it would match her model, but no. Her model has that smeared mascara thing going on as well, not to mention the old splash arts face is much closer to the in-game model face.

Goth Annie was legitimately intimidating in the previous splash art, the new expression lost the gothic essence, the creepiness (in a good way), and the overall quality of the face seems to be lost with the change.

All I ask is to give us @Riot a reason why this change happened on this specific splash art, which was already great by itself. And if there is no reason, I request that you revert your decision about this splash art change before it hits the live servers.

I've been tempted for awhile to buy the digital collectors bundle for awhile, but holy crap not anymore. Took a great splash art and ruined it.

Yeah, that's definitely an important part of her splash art. She looks happily malevolent now instead of angry, which makes her less scary.

World Butcher Urgot just looks so much creepier: the creepy background, the horrifying face, the dim lighting, and the running chainsaw all work to create an image straight out of a horror movie. Chinese Butcher Urgot seems a lot more like a video game boss: the scene is full of action with Urgot ready to strike, and the background is a farcry from a traditional butcher's shop; it looks like an arena. EDIT: This isn't super bad in itself, but I've become used to Urgot the horror villain, and this is a pretty radical change. It's just that I bought the skin because it looked really horrifically awesome, and this Chinese splash doesn't give that feeling of horror that the World one does. (He's just... looking at you with that mangled, gruesome face, like you interrupted him while he was doing something important. That just sends chills down my spine.)

I'm so sad that they're changing it.

It's part of Riot's plan on making the game worse. Their plan is going really well, considering the balance changes and gameplay related stuff; why not throw in art downgrades as well? :)

I just bought this skin the other day and I absolutely love her current splash. Its honestly really disappointing to see her "new" one because it looks like utter crap in comparison :/

I'm still really pissed about this too, the skin was BEAUTIFUL as it was. Having a cheery, heavily animated face on a semirealistic body just... No thank you.

If they really didn't like it and wanted to change it, they should have used the Chinese splash art like they've done for several other champions.

But God, Rito, I and several others paid good money for this skin, S t o p >:C

I think Riot should get their heads out of their damn backsides. I purchased Goth Annie because of this skin and its splash art. Riot should stop kow towing to political rhetoric and global censorship to fill their damn pockets with more cash. We paid for something, we expect it to be what we purchased. We don't want you to rape the content because some damn foreign country has bullshit censorship values that don't conincide with ours.

Bring back the Goth Annie splash we like; not some hacked lame ass ten cent (hence it's inherent new value) cheap lame visual garbage.

I thought that If I swapped the new annie splashes with the originals , I could at least continue to see the old splash art when playing league on my own computer. Unfortunately, the splash art while the game is loading is still the new one, even though (I think) I've swapped the file. Is it in a different directory or is there something I'm missing?

The most I can gather is that, in the current Chinese splash, Goth Annie is smiley and mischievous. As such, they're trying to emulate that with the edit to the NA splash so the Chinese players don't lost their precious, smiling cutie.

Problem is, it looks ugly as sin. If they need to meet in the middle, I say keep the shaded, angry eyes, low fringe, and running mascara, and give her a small, evil grin. That way she's still intimidating, but also mischievous. Like she's finally succeeded in summoning Tibbers after much toil or something.

But what do I know, I'm no splash artist. Maybe that wouldn't look any better and the original NA version is just flat out superior.

They only changed the face on Annie, it still sucks though. But look at Sungoddess Karma... QQ

They replaced the splash with weird manga style "thing" and changed it completely, not just face.

Not speaking for Riot ofc. But maybe folks should look at what was changed and ask themselves how people that might identify with the Goth style feel seeing Annie portrayed in that original manner.

tl;dr: perhaps certain aspects of the Goth stereotype shouldn't be reinforced.
