Im kinda disappointed in the Star Guardian skins, for multiple reasons.

They look real different from their champions. Poppy and Lulu have weirder shaped heads and just look like really young kids. Janna looks lost and her head+hair looks non-Janna and not realistic. The yordles aren't furry or anything, and being human is alright, but their so different. It doesn't even feel like they look too StarGuardian, just not like their champion.

  1. None are males, their all female. These skins mostly aim at a single audience and they all just seem so similar. The Project Skins all have different colors and themes but their still robotic and meet their theme. These skins just feel similar and all it could have been so much better if even one was a male.

The splash's feel less "Star Guardian" with the sexualization. I'm alright with most of League's women, of course not all of them are realistic but I don't get upset by them. However, here they seem to interrupt with the theme. Theres no reason for Jinx to be in that position, with so much being revealed and super short shorts. It feels more like fan service then it does Star Guardian, an thats where I get upset. When it takes away from the theme. Please don't freak out because I mentioned being too sexual.

What do you guys think of the skins?

I agree that the yordles heads are too big in these splash arts. That being said I have nothing against them being all female as this is an obvious homage to Sailor Moon and Super Senshi Shoujo in general.

None are males, their all female.

Well course. They are infact based around Magical Girl anime, series like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Pretty Cure.. things that do in fact focus on female leads. So even though tons of people were hoping for male skins it was unlikely to happen (at least for right now).

As much as I love and want this http://i.imgur.com/GoF1joK.jpg to happen, I doubt it'd be in a serious Star Guardian line. It'd more or less be something similar to the Definitely Not line or even Order of the Banana type skin where it makes fun of something else in the game or the champion.

Well there's no guys in Star Guardian squad like there's no girl in One Direction (boy band)... It was designated for a group of girls.

And I think a lot of time in anime such as Sailor Moon, the girls do some pretty explicit stuffs that you prob don't remember (I recently rewatched some episodes so I know, lol). I myself also was surprised cus as a child I never could've seen that as something revealing or such, but I guess it's not a big deal.

You don't watch magical girls animes if you have a problem with those. Sorry

You don't seem at all familiar with the magical girl genre, so you should do your research. The skins are in line with the genre.

That Jinx pose is a classic genre pose, and I don't see it as sexual. I also roll my eyes anytime fan service rears it's ugly head, but I don't see it in this instance. They did make Janna's bust a lot more noticeable in the splash, which seems like an awkward return to the older days. I don't know why, especially since she is wearing more clothing than usual, maybe that is the reason? But I guess baby steps are better than nothing. I do think overall the artist who did Janna's splash did the best job out of all the skins. It's so ethereal and fits her so nicely.

The only other problem I have with the Star Guardians skin is that we only needed one yordle this time around. I would have preferred something like Star Guardian Karma instead of both Lulu and Poppy. They are still beautiful skins, so it isn't that disappointing.

Also, I know people are saying, "Where is the Tuxedo Mask skin???" but there are magical boys as well. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of Star Guardian male skins in the future. Magical boys are still just as flamboyant and whimsical, and not in a comedic fashion, so I wouldn't expect a Star Guardian Nocturne or any champion centered around a rugged appearance. That's why I don't get your "aimed at a certain audience" criticism.

Examples that come to mind for male Star Guardian skins would be like Ezreal Ekko Taric Vladimir Teemo Amumu Nunu Rumble or Fizz . I'm all for male Star Guardian skins happening, as long as they're done right. The magical girl/boy genre isn't for everyone though.

It wouldn't be something like Darius or Fiddlesticks , just like there's few calls for Star Guardian Kalista Evelynn RekSai or Kayle . They don't really fall into the theme and it ends up looking awkward or comedic, which shouldn't be the intentions of the Star Guardian line.

I think Gender is pretty irrelevant. "Aimed at Single Audience" doesn't really apply anymore. SG Lux was bought unanimously, regardless of gender. In a game where about 70% of the characters are women, players actually don't care. League of Legends despite it's wrong doings, really don't care much about what the skins look like, as long as they are nice. I mean Frejlord Ashe was made Legacy due to the fanbase despising it for it's blatant MMORPG pandering. It shows that people care less about Gender, and more about whether skins look decent or not. Taric was not chosen simply for the fact if he was chosen for a SG, he would be treated as a joke. People already treat him as one, it's best not apply salt to the wound. It's a skin line that isn't meant to be funny, so introducing an overly flamboyant character just because, would be annoying and stupid. He doesn't suit the theme, the joke does. Jinx has always been about tight fitting clothes, she isn't sexualized.

I think the skins have a lot more issues prevalent.

For Example Poppy's skin is definitely not worth 1350 in regards to the others. Lulu and Janna have brand new VFX and SFX as well as animations for Pix and Zephyr respectively and are 1350, where as Jinx is a fullblown Legendary. Whereas Poppy has gotten far less then those two in every regard.

Janna looks lost and her head+hair looks non-Janna

Well her entire team(which were the only people she had in the world) died and now she just wishes she could die too("She rigorously fulfills her duty, but secretly wishes to complete her service and pass her power to a new Guardian." which only happens after death), but she trudges on with her duty. Honestly it wouldn't be right if she didn't look lost after her entire world was ripped apart.

I agree with how different Lulu and Poppy look, and for Poppy and Jinx it seems a little out of character for them, but nonetheless, I like them.

Sincarnation9/19/2016, 11:57:15 PM2 votes

I don't really like the yordles ones tbh, especially poppy but thats just me. If they wanted a younger guardian annie wouldve been fine imo. Janna's splash seems weird, i cant put my finger on it, but its not quite right. Otherwise love the skin Star Guardian Jinx is flawless and amazing, not even sexy.

Also about the all female complaint, thats the point. They are magical girls, you either go all female or all male for the trolls. There is no in between.

Meep Man9/20/2016, 1:57:23 PM1 votes

Jinx always has that much skin revealed though. In her base skin she is dang near naked other than short pants and her bra thing.

Bellows9/19/2016, 11:30:29 PM1 votes

I will not hear any of this heresy that is engative feelings towards SG Jinx.

Rustling Bush9/20/2016, 12:48:57 AM1 votes

i can kinda of see your point with jinx but sg lulu, poppy and janna are sexualized? uuuhhhh doesn't really look like it to me

Glaedr9/20/2016, 1:11:18 AM1 votes

Poppy and Lulu not being furry is a problem? Show me on their default models where either have fur anywhere and I'll eat my shoes. Also Jinx just looks like she's falling down and is preparing for a landing, I mean no shit it's clear fanservice but I don't see where you're getting "nonsensical pose" from

Valaran Nara9/20/2016, 3:52:48 AM1 votes

The Yordles aren't children. They're aliens. Remember that these new 4 dropped out of the sky onto Runeterra, so they are not of the planet that Lux is on. The Yordles can only pass off as children at the school because of their size when, in actuality, they could easily be older than the others. Their grade would purely be what they can pass themselves off as.

Hell, I can even see Jinx as possibly being from another planet purely because, but she's probably not.

Also, I don't think Jinx is overly sexualized for a magical girl purely because not every last Magical Girl is fully covered. When it comes to skin, their thighs are usually revealed because they wear skirts and knee socks. Not a single one of them wear tights except for the ones that seem to keep to themselves. And with how rebellious Jinx is, her belly being present is more likely to stem from her personality than anything else.

Oh, and I also re-read the mention of super short shorts. Short shorts are also a thing for the somewhat more boyish girls. Not every one of them is innocent.

I have mixed emotions about SG Poppy and SG Jinx
