I would like some clarification on Varus/Karmas' lore if any of you can answer my questions

I was reading Varus' lore today, as I saw a picture on the internet saying that he had relevance to Ionia (which I didn't know before) and was curious if he was connected to Karma at all (if you can't tell she's my favorite champion in the whole world omg). In his lore, it states this: "He was bound by honor to stay and defend the temple, but without him, the village's few inhabitants could offer little resistance against the oncoming war machine." This actually confused me a lot, considering the fact that when I read Karma's lore, it states this "As the Noxians advanced, the villagers prepared to accept death, bound to their peaceful vows. But Karma would not accept death and instead saw another way: sacrificing a single life to spare many others. To save her people, she drew upon the power within and summoned the full force of her will... The opposing forces surrendered to Karma's strength, leaving her people and their traditions untouched." I'm going to assume that the war spoken of in Karma's lore is the exact same one as that is spoken in Varus', so how is it possible that the Noxians succeeded in an invasion on Ionia, and destroyed his village (and if you read further in his lore, his family was slain and this is the entire reason he became an evil spirit and let the evil force in the temple control him), yet in Karma's lore it says she was able to prevent this from happening by summoning the power within, and caused all of the Noxians to flee? So what actually happened; Did the Noxians invade Ionia and slay the Ionian Villagers, thus causing Varus to become evil, or did they flee due to Karma's "indomitable will" and thus... I guess there was a second war where Varus' family actually was slain? If this is true, did this second war happen before or after Karma's expression of her power? Because if it happened after, that wouldn't make any sense, since she was able to scare them so much the first time she showed them her powers, they wouldn't end up then coming back to invade due to how intimidating she was. Oh and another question; I read somewhere on the League wiki that Karma felt bad for Varus and that he lost his "way", however this would not make sense if she actually was capable of fending the Noxian troops away from invading Ionia, because then they would not have slain his family and he would not have "fallen" in the first place. I'm so confused!! Please help me guys; I'm really interested in Karma's lore and I want it to finally make sense.

There is only the one Noxian invasion of Ionia. Varus and Karma have different villages, and were in different parts of Ionia. Varus' village was over ran when he held to his duties, much like how Master Yi's village was sacked by chemical weapons. Karma stopped the war front when it reached hers by tapping into extreme measures. The 'turning point' of the war was Irelia's Great Stand of the Placidium, where that front (and quite possibly the war proper) was turned back.

Thusly, Karma's sympathy/empathy for Varus' situation stands: he chose duty over family and the price was simply too great for him.

Noxus invaded Ionia, however you are making one fatal mistake. Military conquests do not focus on capturing a single village. Noxians invaded a big part of Ionia which consists of many villages at the same time. So whole karma was busy in her village beating noxians, other batallions moved in on other villages for conquest and met varus.

Karma feels bad because she could only defend 1 village and did not manage to defend varus village too.
