I love the speech pattern they gave Skarner, he has a tendency to combine adjectives and verbs with nouns directly and it feels very distinct. Nice decision.

What is Amumu?

We just don't know.

Oh my! Skarner's lore made me feel so many things. Especially his color text, it was beautifully written :)

"I sang long into the many nights, sang until my heart was empty and cold, but they did not return." Skarner

I feel Skarner might have the best short story written so far for Shurima

Stars Shaper5/12/2016, 7:50:56 PM7 votes

Ok... Skarner got my feels a bit.

I have a "fear" now... That the amulet that Xerath mercenaries had was a namestone. if this is it then Xerath is in no way a sympathetic villain but really just your average bad guy.

The man stepping into a room with the floor full of salt water. The accumulation of Amumu's tears for thousands of years... Heart broken.

There are 3 certainties in life. Death, taxes & Riot will never give us a clear answer on whether Amumu is a Human or a Yordle.

Ralanr5/12/2016, 6:46:00 PM2 votes

Amumu, oh Amumu, just what are you?

I wonder if his true origins are a mixture of the first and second stories? His death was mourned by those close, but celebrated by the general populace if we consider the temple carvings. Perhaps he was a boy who suffered an illness that people believed a sign of omen, that it was punishment for a sin an ancestor had done to the people.

Whatever the case, I loved the old man's tale. Could he be making up a story to entertain children, or could he be telling the truth? It is a harsh land, one losing an arm in a raid doesn't seem uncommon. But if he did lose it from Amumu, then it shows that the touch isn't 100% lethal, probably something to do with the duration of touch.

Skarner's was probably my favorite because it showcased Skarner misunderstanding the way other races work. He tried to communicate with humans like he would with his kind, not realizing that despite his best efforts for peaceful resolution, he is to blame for their violence (not for them stealing though).

It shows that Skarner is a good or reasonable being, but the language barrier is what prevents it from showing to others. I wonder how he'd react if he met a human who could understand him? Or anyone that isn't of his kind.

I'm a bit disappointed that we basically didn't get any certain information about amumu. Though I wonder if there isn't a bit of truth in all of the 3 stories.

I mean the first story fits amumus character and general behavior a lot. The second one gets some support from the color text and fits his tantrum skill. And ok,the last one simply seems to be a reference to his old lore.

I like how Sivir's color text reflected her mind's turmoil.

It constantly switches from straight narrative to jagged and invasive thoughts which muddies the flow of thinking.

Marbelara5/12/2016, 9:01:54 PM1 votes

Oh, the conflict of an impossibility of proper communication when both parties mean well. Oh, boy. That is one of the saddest ones you can make. Strongly reminds me of the Formics in Ender's Game, and the system of hierarchy of foreignness.

SpecterVonBaren5/12/2016, 7:42:21 PM1 votes

Skarner thinks in H.P. Lovecraft.

Edit: Oh that's why, there not on NA yet. XP

Really, none of Amumu's stories of how he came to be make much sense. I could accept the one with the first and last Yordle emperor of Shurima. It makes the most "sense" and it shows the cruelty of people.

Sharjo, are you a secret Riot employee for you to be so fast for the release of these lores? Its almost like you posted them yourself . [slayer-jinx-wink]
