I wonder if his true origins are a mixture of the first and second stories? His death was mourned by those close, but celebrated by the general populace if we consider the temple carvings. Perhaps he was a boy who suffered an illness that people believed a sign of omen, that it was punishment for a sin an ancestor had done to the people.
Whatever the case, I loved the old man's tale. Could he be making up a story to entertain children, or could he be telling the truth? It is a harsh land, one losing an arm in a raid doesn't seem uncommon. But if he did lose it from
, then it shows that the touch isn't 100% lethal, probably something to do with the duration of touch.
's was probably my favorite because it showcased Skarner misunderstanding the way other races work. He tried to communicate with humans like he would with his kind, not realizing that despite his best efforts for peaceful resolution, he is to blame for their violence (not for them stealing though).
It shows that Skarner is a good or reasonable being, but the language barrier is what prevents it from showing to others. I wonder how he'd react if he met a human who could understand him? Or anyone that isn't of his kind.
