Why the hell is Garen the god king instead of Jarvan?

Jarvan is in line for the throne not Garen, so wtf is going on here?

  1. Skins aren't canon, nor should they have to follow the canon. Jarvan is still in line for the throne & Garen is still a soldier in the canon. I doubt that will ever change outside of some major event in canon.
  2. This is for the VS event. With Darius on one side, they went with a champ that has a sort of rivalry with him. Jarvan isn't that champ.

It's funny how the previous answers aren't stating the acctual reason which is that Garen is a more popular champion than Jarvan so giving the skin to him would bring more money in return, if it was about lore then Swain would replace Darius too

Because skins are not canon, Riot could create a God King Yaliyah skin if they wanted to, even is she is not a god, not a king and not even a male.

Skins are canon in an alternate continuity. Skin canon materials like the PROJECT: Hunters and Star Guardian color stories get uploaded in Universe (any work present in universe.leagueoflegends.com specifically) though they exist and happen separately in their own world and in the Pulsefire multiverse.

They take place in AUs, simply put. God-Kings were born in a different universe that came into existence by Chaos and Order's clash with one another and Darius and Garen are their descendants.

They are rival champions, and fulfill the same role. Both are the BIG STRONG MEN soldiers within the armies. Plus, God-king J4 vs God-King Swain probably wouldn't have been as fitting (imo)
