Irelia, Pyke, Jinx and Akali just got skins UNDER A YEAR AGO!

Quote: "Now let's talk about how we choose which skins we make for champions. It's a balance between 3 things."

  1. "How much a champion is being played."
  2. "Whether they fit into the theme we're working on."
  3. "And finally, when is the last time they got a skin." Unquote:

Irelia just got one back in august following the one Jinx got in the odyssey event back last September, Akali just got one back in October PLUS a Prestige skin and pyke just got a Blood Moon skin back in December. All of these champs JUST got skins in UNDER A YEAR and they're already getting brand spanking new ones?!

So am I to assume reasons 2 and ESPECIALLY 3 are no longer on your list of reasons why a champ gets/needs a new skin? Because by reason 1's logic that means the same 5 to 12 champs are gonna be getting ALL of the future skins. How come Lee Sin isn't getting a new skin? I see him all the time in my games. What about , Morgana, Mordkaiser (REALLY CONSIDERING HE JUST GOT A REWORK! Would have been the perfect time to roll out a new one for him!) Kha'zix, Draven, Ashe,

If reason number 3 was even still an ACTUAL reason how come other champs who haven't received any love in over 2 to 3 years not getting any love?!

Volibear, Shyvana, Rumble, Annie, Singed, Veigar, Tryndamere, Hecarim, Nautalis, Trundle, Janna, Zilean and so on. You really gonna sit there and tell me Ivern deserved a skin before anyone on this list??

Yeah it's cool the champs that are 'always played' are getting skins, but can't we have something actually new for once?! The repetitiveness of the same champs getting brand new skins is getting stale beyond all reason. I like playing jinx and I highly doubt I'm gonna buy that new Project one since I got both her Star Guardian and Odyssey Jinx both out of loot boxes. There's still a good handful of champs I (among many other players) play that we would ADORE seeing new skins for.

Heck I love Vel'koz, would be cool to see a Halloween one where he's turned into a giant haunted jack-o-lantern or something! Giant vines for tentacles, shooting candle fire out at his victims, heck would even be cool to see it be blue flames! All ghostly and stuff, the idea sounds cool to me at least! I have a buddy that LOOOOVES playing Janna, ain't she gonna get any sorta love??

Just as an added thing to this rant, I'm gonna predict the next round of champs that get new skins after this next bundle of Project themed ones. I list these without knowing any future theme!

  1. Yasuo and/or Kayne (I know Yasuo just got one but that hasn't stopped you from rolling out 2 skins for the same champ in under 6 months. *COUUGH pulsefire and Dawnbringer Riven)
  2. Riven/Vayne
  3. Soraka and/or Lulu
  4. Ahri (Easily, like..99.99% chance) / Aatrox
  5. Jax / Added Bonus, 1 token champ that no one plays just to make it look like reason 3 is still a thing. Zilean.

Go ahead, prove me wrong.

The only thing speaking against the picks for the new line up of Projects is point 3, since most of these champions had skins recently.

Point 1 and 2 probably have higher priority than point 3. And I disagree with you it seems, since point 2 definitely is a point in favor of these champions being picked for the skins.

Besides the obvious cyborg thematic, the new line ups of Project all follow some kind of thematic. Last time it has been "hunters". This year, the thematic has been "man-made monsters". They wanted to pick champions with a matching background in the lore it seems, the idea they tried to emphazise here seems to be "champions, which had some trauma in their past that completely changed their personality".

All the champions picked for this year fit in there. Jinx Had an unknown trauma in her past, that made her mind snap. It was the reason she became the destructive lunatic we know. Pyke Got betrayed by his crew, he became a ghost serial killer to take revenge. Warwick Once a criminal who wanted to become good, got captured by Singed and transformed into a beast that is no longer able to control its killing sprees. Akali Irelia Both abandoned the old traditions of philosophies of their country, being about peace and balance in everything. They became ruthless killers on the battlefield, caused by the Noxian invasion.

I can see why they picked these champions, especially Jinx, Pyke, and Warwick. They are all kinda insane and that goes really well with the broken cyborg thematic. On top of their traumatic background, like I explained. The champions they picked are favored, agreed. But thematically, I can see why they picked them.

Irelia's skin: are you referring to IG? Because Riot doesn't really have control over that. It's who the players want a skin of. Duke wanted Irelia, so Irelia was the mandate.

Welcome to Riot Game$.

They prioritize sales over equal representation of art across champions.

There is a certain amount of time a champion has to wait before getting another skin, which I believe is a few months. All those champions have waited the appropriate amount of time before being able to get a new skin. Sucks, I know, but that's how it works.
