Swain's VGU and its implications for the lore

While Swain's VGU is not likely to come sooner than 2018, I think there's some good guessing we can make for some of the information that will come with it. One thing I haven't seen discussed as much is that Swain might be the first "nation leader" to be given a complete overhaul in identity. So whatever info comes with him, we'll also get a great deal of world building about how Noxus operates from the top and how they view their leader.

What kind of character are you hoping Swain fits? The more mystic, sorcerous kind using dark magic and demonic deals to keep his rule in check? A brutal military leader whose mind if focused only on the most efficient and pragmatic courses of action?

Basically, Palpatine, Thrawn, or something else?

Swain might be the first "national leader" to be reworked.

Yes! Swain's role within the universe will be huge for potential lore. Which is more then half the reason why I wish his rework was sooner. As his current Bio is nothing much other than mysterious and riddled with plot holes. So I do feel sorry for who ever takes on this huge role of re-writing his lore.

  1. A complete re-write/ rework on Swain's rise to power. The current reason is so bare bones it's not funny.
  2. I want an actual reason why Boram was no longer fit to be leader (like what did he do/ going to do that upset Noxians?) and how is Swain going to be any better then his predecessor?
  3. The theory about "who's the real puppet master- Swain or Beatrice?" to be put to rest.
  4. Swain's aspirations and motives. What does HE really want for Noxus?
  5. A much more in depth view on Swain's military history.
  6. His Relationships to other characters:
  • Give us a proper reason for why Darius is supporter to Swain. "Darius like Swain. Swain good leader" - is not good enough.
  • Swain's coalition with the Black Rose & it individual members. In fact any more info this tea party would be great.
  • How DOES the citizens of Noxus feel about Swain. Particularly over his rise to power.
  • Swain's personal view on Demacia and their monarchy.
  • Does Noxus still have ties with Zaun anymore? Excluding Urgot as we have no clue what changes his lore will have.
  1. Was it Swain who instigated the war on Ionia or could it have been Boram?

Wow this list is getting way too long, I guess I'll leave it at that for now.

TL;DR You can honestly tell that there is a hell of a lot to answer for in Swain's rework as his identity with in lore is soo weak for a character of his importance. I wish narrative luck cause it feels like they will need it.

Overall I hope that he keeps both, the tactician and the warlock archetype, but if Riot decides to keep only one, then I'd say they should go with warlock, because lets be honest, they always talked about how swain is a master tactician, but never showed him using any smart strategies, making the whole master tactician thing more of an informed attribute anyway.

Aside from that I hope that Swain remains a schemer who is not afraid to go into battle himself when needed and I'd really like to hear a bit about his mysterious past, even if we don't get the full story from the beginning.
