Inb4 he can take jungle buffs from monster camps without killing them, and can lay root traps on walls that pop when enemies come near it. Gonna be a counter jungler.

So what? He's just going to go through jungle get buffs/Exp /Gold from monsters on a really low CD without even breaking a sweat and gank lanes 24/7?
For all we know about his personality,but yet it seems the concept of it is broken.
This is just my personal opinion,but I don'g how this mechanic would functaion without him nog needed to fight any creature,get benefits and sweep the jungle as easy as destroying a blue trinket ward or in the end he has to fight camps and go against his core concept.Maybe Im getting too much into it,but as far as personality goes,be seems more fitting for a support,where he does not need to harm camps.

The way you describe it sounds simply really stupid,it would obviously not be like this. But what if his kit works so,that his abilities don't deal damage to jungle monsters and instead pacifies them(unique bar thats just for him)?
