I absolutely love this game have been playing since mid season 2. At first i had never been interested in any lore of any game. Then as i was purchasing 450ip champs i saw background and i read up on one until i had read them all. I was so engaged with it i felt like the game actually tired into the lore. Also im the summoner from the lore made me feel all the more badass. Now that the IoW is gone and summoners with it, its like a huge slap to the face of the people who have been following it for years. Instead of destroying it refine it cover your bases. If you feel like this is to much of a daunting task get community feed back majority votes etc. Let us create the lore we want since you guys seem to have trouble making it properly, without removing what made it so special in the first place.

and the fact they removed "summoners" from the lore .....isn't they the whole point of LOL .... and why most of the champs have made their "agreement" to fight?

Yep. I started playing in fall 2010, and I'm in the same boat. When Riot "announced" (they didn't even specify in the dev blog until someone outright asked in the comment section) the Great Retcon, it felt like the game lost its soul. I can't get excited for new champs anymore; I can only get excited for their kits, which had already happened rarely.

Divorcing gameplay and story this hard... I hope it doesn't set a precedent for other games. We don't need even more developers and players thinking of game stories as mediocre fluff when story can be so much more.

I migrated here from the recently-closed Dawngate a few weeks ago, and anyone who played Dawngate probably took note of the huge emphasis placed on lore by Waystone. There was great things such as interactive lore, where players could actually help shape the lore of certain characters and the world in general. It was a great system, and I honestly cried a little bit when I found out that Dawngate was being cancelled because I had grown to love so many of the characters, and not just for their kits, but for their tremendously amazing histories. In comparison, lore in LoL just feels so lackluster and mediocre. One of the biggest things that bothered me is skins. There is really no explanation as to why certain champions can look one way, and then look completely different the next.

Take the example of Yasuo, an East Asian samurai-themed character. In his PROJECT: Yasuo skin, he is suddenly a robot, or is dressed in a very robotic suit(?). There is really no lore-appropriate explanation for this. He just is.

I presented the idea of us created lore sometime last year. But Riot's Narrative team doesnt know how to do the job. It wouldnt matter any how. The lore of League of Legends now is a big joke. And so is it's Story tellers.

I loved them, but now they're shortened to 2 sentences.
