New splash is fairly ugly and doesn't properly represent the skin. This used to be a skin I would consider buying if I have started to heavily play Kog'Maw, with the new splash I would no longer get this skin just because of the splash/loading art.

I strongly suggest you get the skin anyway, the in game model is gorgeous. But I am very disappointed by the new splash.

Ugly or unrepresentative splashes are enough to keep me away from a skin. Also it's more of a "if i played Kog this is the skin I would most want" and less of a "I want this skin."

So is the concept of the skin that no one notices it's a void spawn?

This isn't a new splash at all. It's just part of the splash art unification project, which made sure each champion and skin used only one splash for all regions. It doesn't get in the way of an actual splash update later on.

I'm well aware it isn't new, my wording was inexact. However, I don't see why the 'old' splash could not have been used for the one that is unified, it seems vastly nicer.

The updated version is from LOL China, which is made by various artists...including school students, and most of them are not professional artists. So some of them are in cartoon style. The body part of the updated one don't even have the proper ratio as the game model. But if you think, it may be made by a high school student somewhere in China, as a non-professional artist. It would be somehow "better". And it's so ugly for the most of the updated splash art.
