Lux's Updated Lore

In Lux's updated lore, it states that Demacians are afraid of magic and all who wield it. Fair enough, that has real parallels to European history, making it plausible enough.

However, what doesn't make sense to me is the current King of Demacia (and their Prince, the Exemplar of Demacia) get their family name (Lightshield) because of their ability to summon spirits of the former kings of Demacia to shield them from harm.

Now, I'm no expert, but that sounds pretty magical to me. As does ability to summon a giant sword out of nowhere (oh, wait "summons the might of Demacia") so he can execute people.

So, uh, what gives?

PS: What's up with that guy named Rodian in Lux's short story? Why is he named after the species of the guy Han shot in the Cantina?

I would assume that either the public doesn't know about the Lightshield's power, or it's seen as some sort of divine power seperate from magic. My guess is the first, since hypocritical leaders aren't exactly a new concept.

My guess is that Jarvan's and Garen's VFX in-game isn't literally true in the lore universe. It's more like a abstraction/symbolic representation of their capabilities/characters.
