Poppy and her character development or whatever
So i haven't really been keeping up with the lore too much ever since the big retcon to everything a few years ago but the few champions i really did care about i do look into their lore here and there. my main gripe post retcon was the fact a lot of lores that were ok because they had nothing to do with the actual League of legends, Summoners, and the fields of justice and crap. (i know poppy had the league in her old lore but that is such an easy thing to take out for her) and instead of expanding on ok lore they just deleted them for stuff that is vastly more generic or cliche. (mind you i have not read all the post retcon lore just the lore for characters i cared about pre-retcon)
I think the lore update that made me give up the most on the post retcon lore was Poppy's rework lore. the rework was fine but the lore is just a mess. her old Iron Ambassador lore was interesting and they could have just expanded on that or something and if they wanted to tell a story of her going across demacia like she currently is they could have just kept the helmet thing or something and say she was traveling all across demacia to try and give it to Florin which in turn leads to her becoming the Iron ambassador but now with much more depth.
Poppy's current lore started out decent. but as soon as the Hammer thing came into play it just goes so far down the crapper. they ended up taking a character that was hardened and serious warrior (which for a yordle is unique enough already. 
is a different case of serious because he's still silly in a way.) and essentially turned Poppy into an oblivious idiot that wanders around killing people because she's too oblivious to realize something right in front of her.
like it ended on a stupid point with the first drop of her extended lore of her just wandering but than after that the short stories we got just end up making it worse and worse. The Slayer just makes me want to Scream in pain at how much of an idiot Poppy is now that she can't even put 2 and 2 together. like i get it she doesn't believe she is the hero but after exploring for that long and legends even being made about her it just gets silly. on top of this people don't even see her as a yordle anymore it seems. (because that was SUUUUUCH a good lore update to yordles. also why make her a buff dude in normal people's eyes?) but like on top of this yordles live for so long now that gods know how long she has been doing going around. (especially with Galio quoting how she doesn't change)
the short story ends with her going back on the hunt for the hero. with the kind of game League is and how character updates go and how the lore updates usually don't effect characters too much. it makes me feel like Poppy is gonna be like this until the end of League or something. like she is going to be forever just being oblivious and never ever get serious and own up to the fact that she is the hero. Is her character ever going to develop beyond being the oblivious character? are we ever gonna figure out that she knows something like "I know i was the hero all along i just couldn't accept it"? or is it just going to basically be stuck at where we are now with her lore?
(i just really wanted to vent after reading The Slayer. it just sucks so much seeing a character i loved so much pre-rework get such a bad story. i was looking so forward to the rework because i saw them having so much potential to take what they had and expanding on it very heavily but instead they just completely tossed it aside like it was nothing. i mean for the love of lore they didn't even keep one of the biggest parts of her lore which was her father Blomgrun. he played such a big part into her lore and they just poofed him out of existence.)
