Weekly featured game modes
With the removal of dominion soon to become in place, leaving only ARAM as a game mode to escape from the constant stressful games, its definitely time to see more featured AND frequent game modes. What I propose is much like Smite or other MOBA's where there are weekly featured game modes that alternate between each other, and having more just fun, non competitive game modes to play League of Legends just as a game really will make the game more exciting in a plethora of ways.
My Idea: Featured Game Modes should be permanent, and should have a weekly change to switch between already existing(now disappeared) featured game modes, such as URF, hexakill, doom bots, etc, etc. I would also like to see more featured game modes being created as these are being switched but obviously, this thought is flexible and may take a long time to actually set work upon. I will discuss the pros and cons of this idea below:
Pros:
- Longevity of playerbase. Players will have something new to look foward to every week(despite it being a rotational featured game mode) and this will especially help since there is no incentive to play daily(aside from a daily ip bonus) or weekly(aside from the free champion rotation) and these to incentives are quite useless when you have unlocked most champions, if even half. Doing this will create a more active player base. -Stressfree and SOMETHING DIFFERENT from the hardcore grind of 5v5 after 5v5 after 5v5.. - I really respect the competitive aspect to this game, and although I do enjoy the competitive scene, whats wrong with adding something UNIQUE from the same game mode over and over. I can't stand to do more than 2 consecutive games a day anymore as not only do I get bored, but also just stressed out. Things like doombots with its utter ridiculousness and where team mates actually laugh at the game instead of yelling it makes the game overall just a more diverse, stress free game. Hell, I could even argue this removes toxicity in some level, but I won't go there. Not everyone in your community wants to play LCS, some people just want to play what it is at its base, a game for FUN. -More engaging player base - Player base will be more excited about the game in general and feel more obligated to contribute ideas for future featured game modes.
Con: -Resources - I DO understand the implementations of such idea. Tweaking every new champion release to be viable in the diverse game modes is definitely a tedious and difficult process. Honestly though, I would be fine with broken champions in featured game modes just being disabled for the sake of the mode, but even with this ensued there still is a lot of tweaking to be done. But as I think about the future of this game and how much I've been wanting this idea to cure my boredom for this game, I think its possible. I remember engaging in so many unique custom games not only hide and seek, but also custom games where everyone only built warmogs, or games where we only bought boots, or just ridiculous concepts like "chase the teemo," and its easy to see how much the community would appreciate such an update. A game mode where we don't worry about KDA all the time, or our creep score, or our team plays, just a game mode where we had fun. Featured game modes were amazing despite the random time intervals it had and it really felt like ripping a lot of the fun away as you just threw out these game modes.
I am of course, open to feedback on such subject, i've been posting so many posts about how a weekly featured game mode, or maybe two weekly, hell even some type of schedule that we can expect for the amazing fun that games like URF, one for all, doom bots, hexakill brings to the community without them showing up for a week and never popping into existence for months on a time, if at all. I am hopeful to here what you guys think about this and as I browse through the forums I am definitely seeing a lot of support with the similar idea in mind. I hope Riot considers our input and weighs out the pros and cons for such an implementation. Thanks for reading.
