Varus Passive Change

Dear Varus Players,

Don't you feel as if Varus' passive should get a rework? Don't you feel as if you barely notice your passive as the games prolongs? It's like "Cool I get 40% Attack Speed buff, but I have to go out of my way to kill a minion(and get even less %) or kill/assist in an enemy death." Varus has a less useful version of Youmuu's active as his passive. As an avid Varus player I have an idea for a passive of his...

"On a champion kill, all of Varus' applied blight stacks on enemy champions detonate."

Don't get me wrong, his current passive is useful and has definitely saved my skin. But tell me how MF and Trist have an on demand attack speed buff that is a much higher percentage.

Blighted Quiver

Range: 750

Varus' basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and apply Blight. Varus' other abilities detonate Blight, dealing magic damage based on the target's maximum Health.

Varus' basic attacks deal 10/14/18/22 (+25% Ability Power) bonus magic damage and apply Blight for 6 seconds (stacks 3 times). Varus' other abilities detonate Blight, dealing magic damage equal to 2/2.75/3.5/4.25% (+[2% Ability Power]%) of the target's maximum Health per stack (Max: 360 total damage vs Monsters). Varus gains 40% bonus attack speed against targets that have 3 stacks of Blight levels 1/6/11/16

then add new W

i do agree that he needs a reworked passive. i am not sure if that is the way to go. That would assume that i had to have blight stacks on multiple enemy's at the same time(which would restrict his build path) to get any decent effect out of this passive. Personally i wouldnt like to have to aa 3 different ppl and then kill one to get the burst out.

I'll admit his passive feels a little lack luster since so many other marksman get even better versions of it (on demand attack speed abilities or just passively scale better with it lvling). The way it feels right now he's starting to struggle between an identity of sustained auto damage and the burst his kit provides.

If you ask me he should lean towards a long range bursts build. Make blighted arrows his passive, have it pro off attacks and abilities and pop on its own when it reaches max stacks. Other Champs with similar abilities have more mobility and/or more combo options without being a sitting duck.

His W could be filled with some something like an are knock back so he at least has something to say about a mobile assassin rushing onto him without having to rely on a lengthy ultimate or flash cd every time.

While on the note of mobile opponents, varus E is a prime candidate to give the grounded effect to. I know riots trying to give immobile Champs some options to compete with others who have overshadowed and outpaced them and I'd say varus deserves some attention (he's been pretty irrelevant for quite a while outside aram).

I saw another Varus Passive Idea:

Double Knock:

Varus passively knocks a second arrow after not basic attacking for 7/6/5 seconds. If he basic attacks with two arrows knocked he shoots both arrows, each dealing X% of his AD and applying on hit effects. Killing an enemy champion causes Varus to automatically knock two arrows for his next basic attack.

Its similar to his current passive but feels more impactful.

New passive: Suspense of the kill

Varus's prowess with his arrows corrupt his mind with anticipation of the kill. Each stack of active blight adds 5% movement speed (max 15%). Buff is removed upon detonation.

Ahaha I love that idea TC. It would let Varus blow up teams if he was building AP. That would be great. He should always have to die if he gets 5 kills to balance it out. It would stick to the whole only alive for revenge theme he had going kinda.

Varus's current passive is a little underrated I feel like though. In laning phase it's a great way to win an exchange and then go in for the kill. It really falls off once team fights start happening though and it becomes hard to time properly. I wouldn't know if it becomes useless late game, but it sure does feel useless late game.
