Garens spin..

Make a champ who can spin like garen and crit like him but with a gapcloser as well.. and then the spin will stun if it hits 4-5 times.. maybe too op maybe it should be his ult like wukong idk.. But i see alot of potential in a crit garen but the champ just need a gap closer.. or something that makes him viable.. He could be an assasin.. or he could be tank..

Yeah.. Thats actually a good idea.. But do u know why hes never used in pro games? And do u have any idea on how to make him balanced?

he is not used in pro games because he is easily kited, has poor peeling capabilities, and has an execute (meaning taking kills from the carries)

I believe he is pretty balanced atm, not every champ will currently see it into the LCS, due to the current meta, and other factors revolving around team compatibility and what not. But any balance changes i would make are making him more useful in team fights, like possibly adding a slow to his Q, or an AoE slow around him while W is active. This would allow him to help peel in team fights, which is pretty much the only reason he isn't played alot. Some other things id like to see done to him is adding an AD scaling to his ult, but reducing the base damage to comp (this would sacrifice early game damge for late game damage). And allowing E to proc on hit effects, like red buff or frozen mallet. I believe both of these would be a push in the right direction for him, neither will be over bearing, as not many on-hit items would be useful on him, other than frozen mallot, and the scaling would hurt his early game, but help his late game.

He scales well, can pretty much dual any one in lane, even if they are a hard counter he can play safe and 1v1 any one in the mid game, and becomes a monster once he is 16.

item 3709 is just an amazing item on him atm, because of his W + the chilling smite, this allows him to build 1 resistance item of each type, and all the rest HP or damage items, like Black cleaver and IE. And still getting over 150 of each resistance.

My builds have been looking something like this: item 3709 item 3031 item 3071 item 3065 item 3143 + boots (depends on situation)

Rushing: item 3706 and item 3044

I have been doing pretty well with this. I try not to team fight (cause Garens team fight is shit), but rather split push all game forcing them to send 2+ in most cases.

A few games ago I was vs a jax, raped him in lane and he started raging at me about how he was going to scale past me and all id be was a fat body that would get shitted on. I just laughed and told him he would never be able to 1v1 me. Sure enough, 40 mins later he still couldn't 1v1 me and in many skirmishes I would come out alive and he would be dead, along with people on both teams. Sadly that game we had a jungler who rage quit cause our mid took the 3rd blue :(.

I disagree. Garen's team fight is amazing. No other champion can match his durability, sustain, mobility, damage (not to mention mobile damage) and most importantly: kill security. Yes, kill security. You can't keep him off of you and his Q-E-R combo is so good at securing the kill. Furthermore, Garen's silence is one of the best ways to disrupt an enemy's burst, especially assassins and mages.

If Garen's building properly and using his W properly, it takes like 2-4 champions to lock him down. Just because he can't stun the entire team with one ability doesn't mean he's a shit team fighter, it's not as simple as that. I play a lot of Sion who is arguably one of the best team fighters in the game, but Garen can do things in a team fight that Sion could never dream of. You just have to make clever use of his incredibly versatile kit and all of the new itemization options.

LOL at this!

No other champion can match his durability, sustain, mobility, damage (not to mention mobile damage)

Durability: Yea he prob has one of the best durability.

Sustain: Very poor until lvl 16, easily out sustained in laned vs people like hec, vlad, mundo (pretty much any one with built in sustain) Once he is 16 he has the best sustain OUT SIDE of combat, in combat his sustain is shit. So if you can get away you can come back into the fight with full HP in a few seconds (this is why i love split pushing with him rather than team fights, cause I can ingage on some one then run away and get back to full HP in a matter of seconds, then do it again. This is VERY hard to do in team fights.)

Mobility: You are kidding right? no other champ can match his 1.5 sec 30% increase in MS?

Damage: he has alot of AoE DoT. ALOT. BUT he by no means has more than other top laners like, hec, shy, vlad, rumble. Specially when it comes to team fights.

And yes Garen can disrupt the enemy assassins/mages IF he can get to them, which in team fights is VERY hard to do. Do you know how easy it is to stop a garen from getting to you? any form of CC even a small slow can completely stop Garen from getting to you. Yes his Q removes slows, but if you dont cast Q to gain the MS buff then you will never catch them in the first place. This especially happens in team fights, where just about every one has some sorta slow, You cant cleanse them all with Q, meaning it is very hard to get to priority targets with Garen.

If Garen's building properly and using his W properly, it takes like 2-4 champions to lock him down.

EXACTLY! this is why he is an amazing split pusher. He forces 2+ people to come stop him and still able to get away, allowing your team to fight 4v3 or better. And what is better? a 5v5 team fight or a 4v3 team fight in your favor?

Just because he can't stun the entire team with one ability doesn't mean he's a shit team fighter

He is a shit team fighter because he can not peel for the carries, he can not engage effectively, and does not do enough burst damage, yea sure he can soak up alot of damage, if they attack you. but it is easy for there supports alone to peel a Garen off of a carry. Allowing the carries to focus down priority targets first.

You end up contradicting yourself though. You tell me he isn't mobile, but his Q gives him a movement speed boost, his W reduces CC and his E allows him to do damage while moving. If that isn't mobility, then I don't know what is. Mobility is more than having two gap-closers. Mobility is a champion's ability to keep going despite enemy peel and damage.

You tell me he can't peel worth shit, but his Q shuts one person down for 2.5 seconds (on a 5-8 second CD, no less). They can do NOTHING but run around. Did Zed just R your Jinx? That's easy, just Q him when he reappears and you've completely shut down Zed's ability to assassinate. Did LeBlanc just dash in to chunk your backline? That's easy, just Q her when she appears and watch her try to run away helplessly. Garen's R guarantees a kill pretty early on in a fight or later on when the enemy is low and still wants to kill one of your carries. Silence and death are the best CC in this game. Protip: he's good at both.

You tell me his sustain isn't good until level 16, but that's when most major team fights are happening. Just because he isn't regaining health during a fight doesn't mean that sustain isn't crucial AFTER a fight. Garen is a siege machine. Yeah, he's a strong split pusher, but he's just as strong pressuring the enemy base with a team behind him. The fact that Garen has such little down-time in the field means he can constantly harass the enemy, soaking up damage and spells from the enemy team.

You tell me that it's easy for a support to peel Garen off of a carry, but then you tell me that since he's so hard to lock down he makes a great split-pusher. That doesn't make any sense. He comes with tenacity and movespeed built into his kit. As long as the enemy team can't burst him down in one go, they aren't killing him... EVER. I've played quite a bit of Garen recently and I have yet to find a champ that can escape my clutches. I can consistently hit over 600 MS as I'm cruising across the map. Jax, Rek'Sai, Fizz, Lee Sin... you name it. They can't get away. Nobody can.

You tell me he doesn't do enough burst damage, but what about his R? Furthermore, Fighters and Tanks aren't supposed to have great burst damage. Despite that he still is capable of taking a carry from 100-0 or instantly finishing an enemy off at low health.

If you still don't think Garen is a good team fighter, I think you should re-evaluate team fight strategy in general. I will admit that I used to think Garen was a shit champ overall, but then I played against a Garen that was frightening. So I went on LoL Wiki and ChampionGG to look at his kit and just thought about it for a little bit. Like I said before, as long as you are building him and using him properly, he's probably one of the more capable Fighters in the game who is able to transition from split-pusher to team fighter almost seamlessly.

You need to re read what you said. Specially the part where you said "No other champion can match his".

His "mobility" is shit compared to over 60% of the other champs. 4.5 sec MS buff. LMFAO so mobile.

His peeling is shit compared to all other tanks/fighters.

His sustain is shit until lvl 16, and shit in team fights (cause ya know, he doesn't get the regen whiling being attacked, like in team fights.)

His burst damage is SHIT, I hope to God u r not running up to some one and trying to burst them down with his R, his R is an execute, not burst damage. (yes it is an instant amount of damage, but it is not used to burst some one down its used to finish them off. Which means you have to get them to that point first. Where as bursting some one happens instantaneously no matter how much HP they have.)

He excels at split pushing because he can escape easily (unless they have 3+ people with lots of hard CC), clears fast, is hard to 1v1, takes towers easily, is very beefy, duels well, and sustains well out of combat.

I am seriously questioning if you have even played Garen. At all.

FirstSergeantBim1 votes

Okay, that's fine. If you don't understand my argument, then we can agree to disagree. Keep telling everyone he's shit at all those things we've been talking about so no one plays him and Rito doesn't nerf him into the ground. That'd do me a solid, thanks.

FirstSergeantBim1 votes

He isn't used in professional play because the player just haven't discovered him yet. Especially with the changes in 5.8, Garen's become really strong. Honestly, I think he's balanced, but if he became popular I wouldn't be surprised if Rito gave him the Sion treatment. Just look at his page on LoL Wiki and think about what items might synergize with his kit. It's easy to see that Garen can build many different ways and adapt to any match.
