Level 8 champion mastery
Hey, just wanted to speak towards riot Gortok, I thought your passage on /Dev: Matchmaking Real Talk -"WHY DOES THE SYSTEM NOT USE KDA AND OTHER SIMILAR STATS INSTEAD OF ELO/MMR SYSTEMS?"- was very interesting. As a support main, its really nice to hear that Riot is trying their best to present ways to show the impact people have on games other than just simply with KDA. Sadly nobody can tell if a death you have was just a simple mistake or if you sacrificed your life to steal the baron last second. An assists you might have gotten does not present your flash predictions skills on Thresh. So in the end its really great to see new systems being added onto league that can measure other important game factors. I really like the addition of CC score and Vision score, both have been very fun and helpful to look towards on different supports. Vision score in particular has been helpful in making sure that I'm doing my job as the support and placing/clearing as wards at a constant rate throughout the game. But also, as I was coming to an end in reading through reading this interesting little piece, I had just thought of a silly little idea. I was going to simply brush it off however towards the end Gortok said "What sorts of different ways would you like to see progression in League? Let us know!" and I guess it just motivated me to share this. I'm sure this overall idea isn't too original, but I thought there might be some fun to having a level 8 champion mastery with a few little twists added on. Here are the rules that I had immediately came up with...
-You may only have one champion with a level 8 champion mastery. -After each season you have the opportunity to switch your level 8 mastery to a new champion if you meet the requirements for them discussed below.. -There needs to be some sort of major (like.. MAJOR) goal or achievement to unlock this level 8 champion mastery (obviously they must be level 7 prior to upgrading, however some idea would be: getting 3 solid S+'s on the champion; winning a certain number of ranked game with said character; obtaining a certain number of hours on the champion; or requiring and absurd amount of champion mastery points, like in between 200,000-500,000). -Maybe there could be a possible reward once receiving the level 8 champion mastery, like a summoner icon or emote of that champion that you may only use if you have the champion level 8 mastery on the character at that time (if that is possible, making 130+ summoner icons or even emotes would be just ridiculous/absurd).
Basically, I thought it would be a cool way to show off your enjoyment and love for a champion. It could give summoners a way to customize and express their they joys of the game/a particular main of theirs. It would also be a fun goal to try and reach. And personally, I feel that it would be very neat to play with or against someone who has obtained the "infamous level 8 champion mastery" on a certain champion.
It would be awesome to hear feed back from practically anyone. If people see an issue or problem with this idea, or some of the mechanics I had listed, I would actually really like to hear their thoughts. Could you see it affecting game play in a negative sense? How could someone abuse this mechanic of this in games? Would there be different effects or thoughts on the system across lower to higher tier play? If you have suggestions or additions to what this level 8 champion mastery could do or represent, I would also really like to hear them as well. What might be a goal or achievement you would find to be fun to accomplish to receive the champion level 8 mastery?
