Dante, the Wraith of Noxus
Hi, this is one of my first attempts at a champion design. I have made a couple of others, but they were poorly made and I sort of scrapped them, and though I did post one it was a terrible idea as it was too convoluted. Anyway, I had some inspiration for this idea (Credits to youtuber Gbay99, if you haven't heard of him go check him out, he's awesome).
Dante, the Wraith of Noxus
Passive: Thief’s Thrill Dante gains AD equal to 2% of the gold he has, up to a cap of 50. If Dante has more than than 2500 gold, every third basic attack will consume 50 gold to deal 20% of his movement speed as magic damage, and gives him a 2 second burst of 50% movement speed that decays over the 2 seconds.
Q: Fleeting Shadows, Cooldown: 6 seconds, Cost: 50 Mana Dante dashes a set distance towards his target, stunning them for 0.5 seconds and pickpocketing up to 4/8/12/16/20 of the gold they have (if his target is a champion), dealing 10/20/30/40/50 (+1 AD) damage to them. If Dante is stealthed when using this skill, he unstealths, dealing instead 15/30/45/60/75 (+1.5 AD) damage, steals up to 8/16/24/36/48 gold instead (if his target is a champion) and the stun duration is increased to 1 second. This ability applies on-hit affects
W: Thief’s Instinct, Cooldown: 25 seconds, Cost: 100 Mana After 1 second (3 while taking damage), Dante stealths for up to 6/7/8/9/10 seconds, gaining 15% movement speed while stealthed. Attacking an opponent unstealths him. While stealthed, Dante cannot be revealed by any form of vision, including the true sight from vision wards or turrets, due to his expertise in the field of thievery. Attacking causes Dante to come out of stealth. Taking damage from a non-targeted ability also unstealths Dante.
E: Slash, Cooldown: 10 seconds, Cost: 50 Mana Dante slashes at an opponent, dealing 10% of his target’s missing health in damage, his target to drop 10/20/30/40/50 gold that can be picked up by anybody (if his target Is a champion). His target is also slowed for 40% that decays over 2 seconds
R: Wraith, Cooldown 160/130/100 seconds Dante immediately stealths for 10 seconds, reducing the cooldown of his Q to 1 seconds. His stealth cannot be broken and he cannot be seen, but he can only target the same enemy with his Q once every 5 seconds. Dante’s E now deals double damage, and his Q deals 20% AoE damage, and slowing all opponents hit by the AoE for 20% for 2 seconds. Additionally, Dante takes double damage and receives CC for twice the normal time while in this mode.
All this is still in progress, and while I have a set of stats that I made up, I'm not comfortable with them as I'm still not used to the growth mechanics. His lore is a bit confusing, but the idea is that he was a Noxian child with a dead father and a crippled mother (though not stated in the lore), who had to fend for himself when his brothers failed to succeed, and took to the life of thievery. But he was caught because he was too small, and from the age of 10 spent about 10 years in prison (so he's 20 i guess), taking abuse from various Noxian leaders and stuff, and plots his revenge while preparing (cliche I know), before being awesome and ulting the guys during a meeting.
The following comes from the journal of an unnamed Noxian guard. Day 1 My first day as the prison guard of this place. It’s a dump, and I deserve 50 times the pay for what I’m going through. A new prisoner came in today, a child, of 10 years old. The man who caught him told me he was a thief, and a darn good one at that, and was only caught because he wasn’t strong enough to lift himself over a fence. Too many of these scrawny rats are coming in, they’re the reason why I’m here anyway.
Day 273 The child is traumatized, many officials have come in and taunted him, spitting and mocking him. As much as I dislike him, no child deserves such treatment.
Day 739 The child is becoming stronger. Today a captain came in and gave him a golden shower, and he sat there and did nothing. The captain spat on him and walked away. Shortly after, I could have sworn I heard grunting from his cell, but when I looked over I saw the child, silent and in a meditative position.
Day 1503 My keys went missing today, right after I gave the boy his meal. A few minutes later I checked at his cell again and there they were, in the lock of his cell, even though I didn’t go to unlock it. I warned him that if I caught him doing that again he would be punished. He just sat there, eyes closed and didn’t move or make a sound.
Day 2367 No longer a child, the boy is becoming a man. I see something in him, when his eyes are opened, a fire, burning inside him, and yet he appears calm. He still looks as scrawny as he does when he first came in, but something doesn’t feel right.
Day 3504 I’ve been called to supervise a meeting between higher-ups, likely due to a lack of competence from the other guards. It sometimes feels like I’m the only one who can do my job right.
Day 3505 The rat! I don’t know how he did it, or how he became so strong. He stole my Keys again, and unlocked his cell but stayed inside. When I came to whip him, he vanished, only to appear in front of me as I turned around, and the last thing I saw were my keys and his fist. I can only hope that I don’t lose my job over this.
Day 3506 It was him, I saw him. At the meeting, I was taking my post and the meeting was about to start, when we all heard a scream. We looked to its source and found a captain, the one from all those years ago, with his throat slit. Suddenly, we heard another scream, and another, and another. Each time, I swear I saw a figure dashing around like a vengeful wraith, when finally half the members in the room were dead. I saw the figure dash to the balcony, and I called out to try and stop him. He turned and looked at me, and I saw his eyes, the same eyes burning with hatred, and I knew it was him.
The concept behind Dante's character (in game), is supposed to be a frail, but extremely high-damaging assassin. Who of course, loots your gold. I built him with the idea that he would be a jungler, and that hopefully his early game is far too weak to be a laner, so he can't abuse the gold stealing too much. If this ever becomes an actual champion, and he turns out to be an amazing laner, I would say that the gold stealing would have to be DRASTICALLY reduced, OR the cooldowns of the abilities just increased massively. While the stealthing might seem overpowered, the idea is that he goes in, kills a back liner and almost immediately die due to his lack of an escape. However, his ult is meant for a big team fight, with lots of AoE being tossed around. The idea of his ult is that it should give him space to dive into your team and deal lots of AoE damage, and also to (hopefully) assassinate one of your back liners, while taking extra damage from stray AoE and also being more heavily afflicted by stray CC (Ouch for morg Q -.-). I'd be glad to get lots of feedback about this, and I think it'd be cool to see what people think, and if this ever becomes a champion I would just lose it XD Anyway, thanks for reading this, I'll be sure to post updates every once in awhile :)
