Min, the Lightbringer

Intended Role: Mage

Appearance: Min is a small sprite-like elemental that has a strong pulsing glow that surrounds her. She, along with other elementals lived closely with forest Yordles. Her abilities and attacks feature light based particles, with her Q animation being similar to the Summoner Spell that shares its name.

Abilities: Passive - [Name]:
Description: Min has no base movement speed, and must rely on her energy to move. Whenever Min hits an enemy with Dazzle, Radiance, or Lights Out, she gains 40 energy. This energy can be overstored up to 200 total energy. Q - [Flicker]: Cost: 40 energy, Range: 425, Cooldown: 0.5 seconds at all ranks Min automatically ranks up her Q at level 1 Description: Min flashes to target location, dealing 75/100/125/150/175 (+0.6 AP) AoE magic damage in a 125 unit radius on landing. W - [Dazzle]: Cost: All remaining energy, Range: 1100, Cooldown 24/22/20/18/16 seconds Description: Min channels all remaining energy in a single blast, dealing 1x/1.75x/2.5x/3.25x/4x remaining energy (+0.3 AP) as AoE magic damage in a line. E - [Radiance]: Cost: No cost, Range: 500, Cooldown: 29/28/27/26/25 seconds Description: Min lights the area, revealing fog of war in a radius of 1250/1750/2250, and blinding nearby opponents for 1.25/1.5/1.75/2/2.25 seconds. R - [Lights Out]: Cost: No cost, Range: 425, Radius: 1200, Cooldown: 90/80/70 seconds Description: Min briefly creates 5 clones of herself in a circle surrounding the cast location. After a brief channel time, the clones dash together in the middle and disappear into darkness, reducing nearby enemies vision range to 200 for 2 seconds and dealing 200/300/400 (+0.7 AP) magic damage to each enemy they cross.

Discussion: The idea with Min is that she is a glass cannon burst mage with some CC and utility to help her team. She is adept at poking with her W from long range, but can also get in the middle of the fight when her ultimate is available, before flashing out over terrain. The main unique feature of the champion is her lack of movement speed; she instead moves only by her Q (Flash). The flash is balanced so that her base movement speed is much lower than average when moving long distances in straight lines, but is much faster than average when moving short distances or over terrain. There is a significant learning curve in her kit given that players have to balance moving with her Q versus doing damage with her W. This will make her positioning critical to her success. It also introduces the counterplay that if an opponent can dodge her W, she is very easy to jump on.

Champion Statistics: Health: 490-1800 Health Regen: 5.4-14.8 Energy: 100 Energy Regen: 25 per second Range: 550 Attack Damage: 60-110 Attack Speed: 0.625 (+0%-20%) Armor: 20-90 Magic Resistance: 30 Movement Speed: 0

Images: I am no artist, but if some generous soul was able to do up some concept art, I would be more than grateful!

Changelog: September 8th: Posted Champion Concept September 9th: Changed the name of Q from Flash to Flicker. Changed Q CD from 0.25 to 0.5. Changed Passive to not proc on Q.

A couple of points:

  1. The 0 Movement Speed is probably an unnecessary gimmick.

  2. Would Min be able to move upon purchasing boots, or any other item that grants Movement Speed?

  3. What's the purpose behind Dazzle's extremely long cooldown?

  3. What's the purpose behind Dazzle's extremely long cooldown?

  1. The zero movement speed was kinda the basis for the character. She doesn't move like everyone else does, she blinks around instead.
  2. There's a couple ways that boots could work. The first is disabling them altogether, which I'm not the biggest fan of. The alternative is to scale her blink range off of additional movement speed, so boots would still speed her up.
  3. The reason for the long cooldown on Dazzle is that it is supposed to be a very high damage spell. If the numbers need tweaking to balance that aspect, then I'm totally open to suggestions.

Ok, have a few questions. How does she move at start of the game? When the Q automaticly lvl up at start, can she have 2 abilities at lvl 1? The most broken part is her Q, having flash on 0,25 second cooldown is too op, I know it costs energy, but if she hits opponent she can flash again. Creating more dashes/flashes that callista maybe can have and also dealing damage. Full ap and some skill = 1v5 penta with jumping around every 0,5 sec and dealing 625 damage. Also the Q name is in game and what I know riot won't make 2 same names.

Very valid points. At the start of the game, her Q would be automatically selected as her first ability, so she would just have one, but it is her way of moving around as well. The Q point is very true, and it wasn't quite what I was thinking when I designed it. For some reason I wasn't thinking of the passive proccing it, so I will change it to reflect that. I also agree that the CD is probably too low, especially once she builds CDR. I will update that as well. That being said, the reason it deals a lot of damage on the Q is that it's high-risk high-reward. Yes, you can jump in for a fair amount of damage, but being right in the middle of a fight isn't exactly where she wants to be. Having a higher CD on that skill would increase the risk substantially I think.
