As soon as Riot announced they were just making more sets rather than continuously updating or swapping out the original, the doors were open. This is a fully functional custom set. The full info page goes over literally everything involved with a set including full champ stats. That being said I understand that most people don't care so for your ease of use there's a full champion layout and synergy/item cheat sheet available.
The main goal of the set was to allow for more skill expression. One of the biggest things I'd like to see improved about the current iteration of the game is that the only time serious position swapping happens early game is after the elemental hexes are introduced. So to counter that, the main mechanic has the players battling against each other each round. Players will compete for powerful buffs each round however if too many players try to take advantage of the buffs they instead turn to back breaking debuffs. More of the hex spawn throughout the game but rather than stacking the buff they instead just make it harder to avoid using them further pushing positioning skill. A key note is that half the players rounded up get the buff which is most relevant when you get to 2/3 players remaining. Three players allows two players to yield the buff causing an extremely complicated strategic scenario. Two players no longer play the game, since they can both have the buff and at that point have to fully worry about positioning against their only remaining opponent.
This is fully custom and with the exceptions of the skins fully recreated to the best of my ability. (As it turns out the card overlay renders are not available readily, shocker.) I've been drafting MTG for about 10 years and designing escape rooms for the last two so this type of design is right up my alley. There was a tremendous amount of research done into both TFT sets currently live and other similar auto chess variants. The numbers given in the full data sheet are based off live numbers when applicable. Many synergies that were completely new or hadn't had a relevant synergy comparison were number crunched to theoretically be balanced. The awkward part about having all of this on paper is that I can't further balance it since I can't see how some things work in practice.
I would love to talk about any questions about the set. I truly do love TFT and its gameplay. And hope to be able to be part of the team that makes it at some point.
Enjoy
This is a repost from both r/leagueoflegends and r/teamfighttactics. I have received massive amounts of feedback for the set in the past 24 hours but have not gotten around to changing much of it. If you would like to read over those posts you can view them here https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/dxq0oi/i_designed_a_fully_custom_tft_set/ https://www.reddit.com/r/TeamfightTactics/comments/dxq5qq/i_built_a_fully_custom_tft_set/ P.S. I have some ideas about a spectator mode
